Pavel the Bure
I like the trade, I was a bit disappointed we not pick VALERI NICHUSHKIN at 9 (mainly because I wanted badly to have at least 1 Russian player in Canucs uniform) but I do understand the RISK with Russians players, especially after Filatov-Columbus fiasco. snolan
What makes Schneider a stud? I think the potential is there, but a lot of goalies have started their careers hot and disappeared. This is great asset management. We are deep in goal, so we traded are depth in goal to stock pile our other needs.

Mr. Serious
I am perfectly fine with Cory being dealt. However this should have been done last season. Gillis dropped the ball on that, and due to this Vancouver got a short return on Cory.
Dion Phaneuf
I like the trade, but we could've gotten more if we didn't make such a hasty decision. Hopefully Luongo isn't too choked about staying as our #1. Main thing is that the goalie saga is over and we drafted a player that is poised to make an impact within the next two years. We'll also find out if Schneider is indeed the real deal.
Canucklehead73
My only true complaint was getting so little for Schneider.... First rounders are a gamble.

Underachieving Hero of CDC
We just traded what, in my mind, is a vezina-type goaltender (the most important piece you can possibly have on your team) for a good prospect. Not even an elite prospect, just a good one. Obviously a trade had to be made but the return was extremely low. Somewhere in private, Lou Lamoriello is dancing a jig right now. snucks
I think Luongo is going to realize he's just playing a game for millions of dollars, he's going to have a lot more fun now that some young kid isn't going to make him 2nd guess his livilihood. Torts is going to devise a system Luongo can be a part of too. Roberto Luongo is going to become even better, and Horvat is going to be perfect for us. DownUndaCanuck
I have been a Luongo fan and wanted Schneider traded for a LONG time now, but MG got absolutely fleeced on this. Yes, one goalie had to go, and MG had to get the biggest return possible. MG really had his hands tied with this, just like the Hodgson problem, but this time it was his fault. Schneider should have been traded a long time ago. Lou is known for making good trades and he burned the Canucks on this one. Obviously Edmonton were offering more but MG cannot trade within the division so ignore that offer. Realistically, we should have gotten a 1st rounder and a current NHL player. At least Hedberg to back up Luongo. This is a classic case of a veteran GM burning a rookie. With an asset like Schneider, we should have at least 1 NHL star to add to our mix, instead we've got an 18 year old who won't see NHL action for at least a season. That being said, this is a great playoff trade. Luongo is the hardened veteran, playoff monster and big-time performer who will most likely play for Canada again. Schneider is the kid with a whopping 1 playoff victory and not much big-game experience. Now we bring in arguably the most clutch forward in the draft who's also a defensive specialist (something the final 3 teams this playoffs had in common) and a Cup-winning, defensive coach. MG may look bad after this move, but he's turned his attention to winning in the playoffs which is what we need. You don't win playoff series with 2 great goalies, you win them with good coaching, young forwards, defensive forwards, playoff-experienced goalies and clutch performers. Airjasper
I feel sick about this trade. Schneider was the future of this team and was going to carry the Canucks on his back. He is going to be a consistent Vezina nominee. All that time spent developing Cory just traded away so we can spend a bunch more time developing another player. I'm a giant Lu fan. He is my favourite goalie of all time...But man, this was Schneiders team. And what makes this even worse is I feel NJ stole him. We couldn't even get an NHL ready player to go along with that 9th pick? Seriously Gillis?
TrevorLinden4ever
Goaltenders are some of the hardest guys to draft and fix into the roster. IMO this is the worst trade we could have made right now. If it pays off in the future, great. If not, we lost a really cool player and person and it will go down as the worst trade this a-hole management made in my book. van_ws
NJ totally owned the Canucks on this trade. They get a franchise goalie by dealing a 1st round prospect... didn't even need to move a roster player. There is nothing wrong with getting something in return, but MG could easily have gotten more if he didn't frack everything up.
Blackberries
i'm actually quite ok with it. Even if Luongo backs out... the extra capspace once the contract is voided will be nice. Crawford proved you don't have to be the best to win it all, its what you put in front that matters, and I dont think I have been able to say we got the same quality prospects like this since the Sedins and look how they turned out. These guys we got are going to make a difference and be the future of this team once the Twins are gone. The freed up capspace means we can actually take a run at a few guns during the frenzy. I also think you guys are failing to realize that alot of teams don't like Gillis and wont give him a fair trade, so he did the best for the team without buying out luongo and sending us into ruin for alot of years to come. At least know we can stall a year have him trigger his out clause and have Lack waiting in the wings plus we get the prospect and the capspace. hudson bay rules
Schneider was/is ready to be a full time starter. He could've played 65 games or so and Lou would just sit on the bench. Ya cant tell me Lou wouldn't waived his NTC then. Gillis could've got something for Lou but Lou only had Florida in his sights. I can't imagine Lou is happy even now. Blackberries
Cap. Gillis killed two birds with one stone on the trade. Got rid of goalie controversy. Solved cap issues. Got blue chipper in process. Seriously not that bad, sport.
