oldnews
How many games has he played? How many points does he have? There you go. PPG Defenceman. Yes, that's what this place could use more of - a sense of humour. Juice would be proud of the reference as well. plus 1! Nice pick up Surfer. oldnews
He's not a PPG player in the minors and unlikely to be one in the nhl, that being said he has something the nucks have been missing for a long time. If he makes the team I'm sure he will make us pull our hair out at times but I'd love to see what he'd add to the team. He's not going to make the team - he's too young - but he's a nice prospect with plenty of potential and the most important muscle looks pretty strong. Joel Heyman
yeah guys grow into their 20's There are small dmen making their way into the NHL nowadays though, if he's going to make it he just has to continue to display skill and smarts, its all up to him. Parise11
Gillis came out of a 2 year hibernation in that draft. He was making the best of a tough situation on ice as well with Santo, Stanton and other moves which helped the club. But despite getting going in the right direction again we also had all the issues with Torts and Lou surface dragging his miserable work the two previous seasons back into the limelight. Totally, not saying he was perfect or anything, I am much more comfortable with Benning at the helm. That just caught my attention.
oldnews
Julius Honka is 5'11" and 175lbs - scored 16 goals and 56 points in 62 games (for SC in the Dub) and was +10 as an 18 year old last year - was drafted 14th overall. Jordan is 5'9" and 175lbs - scored 13 goals and 51 points in 68 games (for Belleville in the O) and was +22 as an 18 year old - the Canucks picked him up 115th overall. Subban's production slipped a bit last year, but then again, the Bulls went from a 96 to a 53 point team and he was their 3rd leading scorer both seasons... Doesn't mean much going forward, but pretty solid potential for a 4th round pick, and hockey intelligence tends to translate well imo.
TOMapleLaughs
start vid at 50 seconds Jordan threw the best hit of that game by far. Guy was the same size as him approx. but... can he hit? yes.http://video.canucks.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=630307 Hopefully he can do that against average NHL forwards someday. 2SKATES1STICK
He's 18 1/2 You stop growing after you're through puberty. Unless you think his balls haven't dropped yet, he isn't getting any taller folks.... BIGGER, yes, but taller? no. Not without surgery. Your understanding of biology is remarkable. I grew from 5'11 to 6'2 from 18 to 22. I did have surgery on my wrist, so you're right! All we need to do is get Subban a wrist injury and some surgery and he'll be fine. Salmonberries
I just watched a CBC news story about the Vancouver Province caption. Yeah, that's right, a national evening new story. I really hope we don't sign him now; he's not worth the sideshow that he brings to the table.

And my eyebrows and the hair in my ears and nose is still growing. So I trim. Other bits have just never been allowed to, uhm, look old...
Canuck Surfer
Sad to see Subban cut. Probably was inevitable. Great to see a guy play with spirit, who has some personality, and gives the fan base hope. Count me a fan after watching him this pre-season! higgyfan
I don't think he'll grow much taller, but I do believe he has it in him to make the NHL. It will be tough for him to play against men that are mostly over 6ft, but he seems to have the character and drive to keep going. It will take him a little longer to make the jump, but I hope to see him as part ot the Canucks' future.

My growth slowed as I got older but it didn't stop. Will Jordan be 6'4"? No. Will he be taller than 5'9"? Yes. I predict him being 5'11 in 2 years and topping out at 6'0"
Canuck Surfer
^^^ That some people grow after age 17 or 18 happens. But its definitely not the norm. ^^^ Growing 3" after the age of 20 is exceptionally rare. I was a late grower in my high school. Some of the "athletes" grew large in year 7 & 8, and were near their full size by year 10 or early year 11. Just filled out some more. One advantage they had in sports is their bodirs grew into having size strength and reach, even coordination, at an earlier age. Although some guys were down right clumsy when they grew. I was 5'1" in grade 9, 5'4" in grade 10 so I got cut from hockey and played point guard in basketball. I grew to 5'10" by year 11 and could barely walk my knees were so sore. 5'11 by year 12 and I was definitely catching up. Very few others were still growing. Terry F was a NHL prospect in year 9 and was 5'7" at the time. Bigger and faster than most but by no means "large." He was only 5'8" when I finished growing and never made it because he was too small. It was down right weird being bigger than guys who could rub me out most of my life? Moral of the story remains most guys don't grow at age 19 and beyond, most are done at 17 or 18.

5Fivehole0
It doesn't really matter how much taller he gets. What will matter will be if/how much better he gets. Kind of, size does matter in a physical game. You have to be exceptionally good with the puck and your awareness to compensate for size. Ala Whitney. St Louis. I'll be honest in saying I'm not too familiar with regular NHL dmen under 5'11 that are difference makers.
Gollumpus
It doesn't really matter how much taller he gets. What will matter will be if/how much better he gets. I agree with you, and I don't. Certainly with another inch or two Jordan could be the next JC Tremblay ( or someone better). Tremblay played at 5' 11 and 175(ish) pounds back in the day. The down side of this comparison is that, as I recall, the NHL was a much smaller league then than it is today. I'm not sure that a small, puck-moving d-man like Tremblay would have had the same level of success in today's NHL. Yes, Eric Karlsson is out there (as well as a few others), and when Subban starts to show that level of ability then the team will re-evaluate his future. I'd like the kid to get a shot, but I do believe the size issue is going to limit him unless he gets better a whole lot. regards, G.
