he was such a talented, down to earth guy and seemed really friendly. a fellow canucks fan too. so shocking to hear about his death, I know he's suffered battles with drug use but I really couldn't believe it when I heard of his death. and just the fact that he died in vancouver.. :/ rest in peace cory

I guess my first point wasn't clear enough. Honestly guys, grow the fu** up. This arguing over trivial stuff is getting stupid. It makes you look stupid and CDC look like a joke. Truthfully, I have never been more embarrassed to be a CDC user. Not sure how much I have to spell it to you guys. These antics are beyond bush league. Pay respect to the guy that passed away. Talk about his life/etc not whether a rip is being used too freely. This isn't a philosophy class. I know some cdc users are younger but even youngins have the sense to pay respect. You people that are yapping are just being horrible human beings. Plain and simple.

i'm getting all defensive because this guy was a inspiring guy. GLEE started with him & the other old co-stars but then show really changed a lot of people and that includes me. He gives me hope & motivation, to try stuff I haven't before. Things I thought weren't possible, but man, was he a good role model for many people out there.

Here's an attempt to get this thread back on track...Cory Monteith first made an impression upon me as an actor when he had a recurring role as a high school basketball star on the locally shot Sci-Fi-Drama series "Kyle XY" for ABC Family. Although he confessed to struggling with addiction issues early in life...since his acting career took off - from all reports - Cory conducted himself in the public domain professionally & represented his hometown well. In closeted fashion ...it was surprising to hear that he had relapsed & sought treatment for his addictions again.

Before we all run to conclusions...an embolism or some other medical event may well be responsible for this tragedy. I will miss him & the public cheerleading he did for our 'Nucks - very much! He always remained a steadfast 'Nucks' fan wherever he found himself...whether it was in NY...in LA...or here in Van City! I appreciated his efforts to build Canucks Nation & respected that he was so gracious with his celebrity when confronted or photographed.

I am only sorry..that if some drug mishap or addictions are proven to be responsible for his death...that his handlers, co-workers, family & true friends were unable to sustain him thru to a full & healthy recovery. Maybe the pressures of being the face of a hit "Glee" television show & franchise - which was renewed for 2 more years...instead of being cancelled as some reported.....was too daunting.

RIP...is an appropriate saying - here. Alas! Perhaps like Rick Rypien or Luc Bourdon who pre-deceased him & also bled blue & green....Cory may well be do his best to help out his team from the other side now - if it were at all possible. My heart-felt condolences go out to everyone who mourns his passing...& especially to Cory's family members & loved ones. I know the "Glee" community is suffering & will not be the same....but you will also be missed...around the rink! Farewell & report back - if you can!

Your talking about it as if he was forced to take drugs at a young age and his body could no longer take it. After all the recent drug related deaths I think one should learn and maybe seek help ahead of time. The guy didnt affect society in any major way other then he had a role on glee, canadian, singer and most importantly a CANUCKS FAN YAYY.

Gah, I can't stand it when people make these stupid types of arguments. So nobody's allowed to be sad about anything ever because there's worse things happening elsewhere? Gimme a break. There's not a single ******* thing wrong with feeling sad that poor Cory passed away before his time. Get off your high horse and stop being so disrespectful.

RIP Cory. I might not have followed any of your work, but I sure as heck had a ton of respect and admiration for you.

If he went into rehab at 19 and became somewhat successful until now guess what ... he relapsed.

Addicts stay addicts for life its about how they deal with it. There is no magic cure and he couldn't deal with it.

I don't get why the fact he had a drug addiction renders him invalid for empathy.
