Benchsplinters
In regards to Weise, no way an arbitrator gives him more than 750K
SamJamIam
Walk away and offer his money to another depth center who can win faceoffs - Steckel or Halpern... Weise just isn't that compelling.
Raffi Torres's Smirk
Given our recent signings, I'm inclined to agree. I like Weise now that his hands have gotten better in tight and the quality of his hits has improved. But I suspect Weise is just a little too high on his Dutch Gretzky days currently and an arbiter will not see it his way.
bigpush
What has Weise really done for the Vancouver Canucks. IMO he is a fringe player at best and not worth much more than his qualifying offer. Gillis should save the money and walk away. Give the spot to a rookie; the rookie would do just as well
CanuckRow
Management has done well in the passed arbitration situations. Gillis and Gilman both have Law degree's, as well as the available team lawyers shouldn't be anything to worry about.
SamJamIam
His hands (that JS spinorama goal), plus his work ethic, plus his PK ability, not to mention he was the fastest skater on last year's team means he should stay. Hopefully we get him cheap, but I hope we keep him either way.
oldnews
Not sure what his case will be. 14 points in 118 NHL games - granted, a defensive zone start player - although this year it was 41.5% and his underlying numbers (-17.2 rel corsi, - 12.09 corsi on), not terribly strong quality of competition (actually the weakest on the team)... not very compelling underlying numbers. Has blocked 39 shots. Nearly a couple hits a game. His penalty killing numbers were also, by a significant margin, the worst on the team. I'd walk away in favour of a depth center who can win faceoffs and give us a second center on the fourth line.

poetica
Arbitration has been avoided. As per TSN article: The Vancouver Canucks and restricted free agent forward Dale Weise have avoided arbitration. On Wednesday, the club and the winger agreed to a one-year, $750,000 deal. In 40 games last season, the 24-year-old recorded three goals and three assists.
