kanucks1
http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/MayRay-Inching-Toward-Signing-with-New-Team/1/53320 MayRay Inching Toward Signing with New Team August 12, 2013, 2:40 PM ET (Eklund) One of the more intriguing -- and somewhat puzzling -- names still left on the unrestricted free agent market is winger Mason Raymond. He's still reasonably young, is still one of the speedier forwards in the NHL and is coming off a decent year for Vancouver (10 goals, 22 points in 46 games) that suggested he's finally over the hump from the serious back injury he suffered a couple years ago. Right from the outset of the summer, the word I heard on Raymond was that he'd be moving on from the Canucks. That's still the case. Some the strongest recent interest is coming from the Winnipeg Jets, while the Sabres, Oilers, Devils and Stars also have degrees of interest. The biggest question to be determined: Does a moderate multi-year deal or a one-year contract that will enable Raymond to become a UFA again next summer (when the cap ceiling is likely to rise by a significant amount after dropping for 2013-14) make more sense for each of the two sides? More to come........

Burnsey
I hope he signs with a team soon. Despite what some people say/think about him he can still be a decent top 9 guy who still has potential. Like Kesler the last 2 years haven't been kind to him with that back injury.

Kyosama
May I ask why not the Jets? I wish him the best of luck in his future hockey career, and I am somewhat glad it won't be with the Canucks. I will always remember how efficient he was during that 50 point year he had but sometimes you just have to move on and go in a different direction. canuck2xtreme
As a Jets fan I agree with Monty, and it has nothing to do with Raymond as a player, I'd love to have him on the team normally, but as it is the Jets have far too many players under one-way contracts. They can't start the year without putting a few people through waivers. There just isn't room for him, he wouldn't fit in the top-9 and he should't be a 4th liner. Why doesn't he fit in the top 9...? I might have missed someone, but.... Kane - Little - Wheeler Ladd - Jokinen - Setoguchi Raymond - Scheifele - Frolik Thorburn - Slater - Tangradi Wright - Peluso Byfuglien - Enstrom Bogosian - Clitsome Trouba - Stuart Pardy - Postma Pavelec Montoya Could also give the Jets flexibility if he keeps rebounding and Setoguchi struggles, he can slot into the 2nd line. He scored at a 40 point pace last season, and if he plays with decent offensive players (read: not Schroeder, Ebbett, Weise or Sestito) he can be a very productive 2nd liner, despite what some CDCers might have to say. TOMapleLaughs
Why'd the Jets let Burmistrov go for nothing? They should've at least traded him. Poor asset management. Hey meanwhile nobody's talking about Wellwood. What happened to the love-in that a minority of cdc had for the guy?
