Would this work???

Leafs get
Chris Tanev
2014 3rd rnd pick

Canucks get
Cody Franson

Gives Toronto enough cap space to resign kadri and a young top 6 defensemen. Gives the canucks an upgrade to their top 5 d and some extra size without getting much older

Pretty good proposal but Toronto can probably get more.

Pretty good proposal but Toronto can probably get more.

Actually I am unsure if they can with their cap constraints. There are still more than a few teams looking to shore up areas cheaply and a young up and coming stud D or potential top 6 C for $2.5 million offer sheet could be more palatable than trying to teach an old dog new tricks.

If I am Nonis I am more than a little worried because on paper this team looks good, but as a Canucks fan I know this Leafs team is one injury away from being a bubble team and 2 from being a lottery picker on the other side of that paper.

With that in mind I wouldn't offer Tanev and a 3rd, Tanev straight across and let us eat the RFA headache or Tanev and a 5th 6th or 7th

He's out for 6 months (which will hinder his development) and he really needs that development. There's already worries that he won't translate to the NHL and he'll end up a huge ass bust.

Overvaluing Tanev I don't like Franson anyways doesn't fit the DMan Mindset we need in our lineup. No deal.

Not too bad, but Tanev is being over valued in this trade. Plus, If we acquire him, it would be for the bottom pairing. We would need to pay him a lot and we all know how that went last time we had a D-Man taking 3 million+ on our 3rd d-pairing lol.

He would be a massive part of our D. OFD and right handed that can QB the PP? This is exactly what we've been missing.

WTF is the 7th pick for? It adds no value. More like Tanev and two 2nds. EA needs to change the way it accepts trades, its deluding people to think that quantity = quality.

Dale Weise plus maybe chuck in Mallet for Kulemin makes a lot more sense. Cuts them exactly the slack they need and makes our right side look a whole lot better!

Hey; It's the type of deal they're going have to make?

Danny Hank Kassian
Burrows Kesler Kulemin This looks scary good.
Booth Schroeder Hansen
Higgins Richardson Sestito

Henrik Zetterberg was a 7th round pick, Tim Thomas, Vokoun, Steve Sullivan, Nabokov were drafted in the 9th round.

And Nathan Smith, Patrick White, Josh Holden, Brad Ference, Mike Smith, Libor Polasek, were all 1st round picks. For every star drafted in the 8th there far more 1st round busts. You trade a 7th round pick when you are scraping the bottom of the barrel on trade deadline day.

While that is true, it also depends on how much he wants for his contract
