Burkie to the Flames

A league-scheme to feather the nest of some key US market. Gainey(Gomez deal) set up the NYR & cleared one of their brutal signings. They must have had incriminating photos to induce that disaster. Burke handed the Bruins a future, that should have belonged to the Leafs. Non-personality Kessel was perfect for TO market, because they'll buy tix anyways.

Burke will probably trade a McDavid pick to an American market, for some fading "key" player. Destroy another Cdn franchise future, then land a cushy NHL HQ's position.

I actually don't think Buke is a bad GM at all. He was a huge part of building our team and the leafs team that finally managed to make the playoffs last year. For Calgarys sake they should fire Jay "Brain Fart" Feaster and replace him with literally anyone else and Burke wouldn't be a bad choice. He has the balls to take risks and that is needed to turn around a pretty pathetic franchise that the Flames have turned into. Bottom 5 roster for the NHL and a prospect pool that is far below where it should be with the draft picks they have had.

Oh you can bank on it that Burke WILL be the next GM and most likely higher management position. Burke doesnt join an organizations to become bean counters or consultants. And you can expect the burning question all year

"Will Burke make a pitch for Sedins?"

He's working part-time with the Ducks organization right now..

Although it's obvious that the Flames would be better off without Feaster, I don't think Burke is the answer they are looking for. They are a team that is just starting their rebuild process and needs to stick to it. As we all know, Burke is not going to help that. The Leafs could have had Seguin and Hamilton and not been in the cap trouble they are today had Burke not made the trade for Kessel (who may not even re-sign with the Leafs).

Burke's management style suits a particular time, as shown when he was with the Ducks. Building a team and turning them into a contender is not that time.
