First, I apologize if I put this in wrong section. I found a report today that Morrow may be a pre training camp signing and will bring lots of intangibles to a team looking to strengthen defensively.

Do you feel Morrow would be worth bringing in to our line up and taking a potential spot of one of our younger players??

What would you offer him to get him to sign? What offensive potential would he bring and what line would you like to see him join???

Here is the link to the article as source of potential signing!!

Here is the article ...

Vancouver - The Vancouver Canucks are one of the better teams in the NHL, but age and a lack of physical players are starting to catch up with this franchise, but help could be on the way.
It's too late into the summer to add some younger talent, but the NHL free agent market still has some tough hard nosed players and recent reports have Brenden Morrow linked as a possible signing before the start of training camp.
Vancouver doesn't have much room under the salary cap and a Josh Rimer reported that after talking with the veteran free agent, Morrow wasn't close to signing because the team he wants to play for is having a tough time making room with cap space.
The 34 year-old isn't exactly in the prime of his career, but he does the little things on the ice to make teams better and the Canucks need a player of that caliber to help against clubs like Chicago and Los Angeles in the Western Conference.
Vancouver will try to become more defensive minded in the 2013-14 NHL season and that kind of switch in philosophy is tough on younger players. Adding Morrow would strengthen the bench, add more leadership on and off the ice, and make this team more competitive in the upcoming hockey season and that in return will make the fans more excited about the start of the year.

IF he were placed on the 4th line, I'd imagine he'd often get moved around, to be used in many circumstances. Lots of mileage, but tonnes of heart & experience.

I still don't believe last year with the Pens was him at his best.

He likely still has enough in the tank for a couple more seasons.

1 year 1.5M-1.75M? Unless of course he wants 2M+.

I'd love to have him for a cheap contract. He would certainly improve our bottom 6.

Let's just put it this way: We would be a contender if we had Morrow in our bottom six.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

We already are a contender. We have been contending with various degrees of success for quite a few years. This year won't be any different with our without Morrow.

LOL not that simple my friend:

Sedins get back to PPG or above
Kesler returns to Selke form
Higgins, Booth and Edler bounce back
Luongo plays well
Schroeder steps up with key secondary scoring to give us 3 scoring lines
Tortorella is able to motivate players

And many more.

Having Morrow would make us a better team, but far from a contender. Our core players that drive the bus need to bounce back after these last two years and prove to themselves and the league that they can go deep again.

Well yea a more serious contender is what I meant

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Booth - Kesler - Burrows
Morrow - Gaunce/Schroeder - Hansen
Higgins - Richardson - Weise

If we got Morrow, packaged Schroeder for a deadline acquisition and slotted Gaunce in the 3C, we would be on nasty team to play against.

The only way that could happen is if both Schroeder and Guance made the team this year. Gaunce goes back to Junior for the year if he doesn't make the team out of camp.

The Canucks need another LH D so bad. Don't want to see Alberts as the 3rd pairing lh dman.

Anyone who doesn't think Morrow would immediately improve our bottom 6 has absolutely no clue what they're talking about and doesn't need to continue posting in a hockey forum anymore.

The depth at bottom 6 would be as follows.

Morrow, Higgins, Hansen, Weise, Santorelli, Richardson, Sestito, Schroeder, Burrows, Kassian (Schroeder, Kassian and Burrows are interchangeable as are Hansen in the bottom 9) and these are ONLY the guys with NHL experience. We could also add in Mallet, Labatte, Archibald, Gaunce and possibly Lain and Horvat as well.

Adding Morrow or even Boyes at this point makes this one of the deepest teams in the league for bottom 9 forwards as the twins can and will produce with literally anyone in this league. If Morrow is available for cheap get him, Boyes or Cleary same thing.

He's out for 6 months (which will hinder his development) and he really needs that development. There's already worries that he won't translate to the NHL and he'll end up a huge ass bust.

This team doesn't really need him. We already have plenty of veteran, playoff experience, which is what he provides. Skill wise, if we don't have a similar player in the system to replace him, then we don't have a very good development system.

Isn't this team supposed to be getting younger? Yet everyone wants to keep adding more older players. Gotta stick to the new script folks. Management shouldn't be considering adding players over 30 who appear to have flatlined or started regressing.

I'd love to see Morrow here. His numbers haven't really slumped a lot since his prime. He was even better last season compared with the year before and his PPG percentage with the Penguins was equal to his highest in his prime.

I'd say he has a few more years in the tank, not just a couple.

He said himself the teams he's looking at have to shed cap first. That's not Carolina.

Morrow is married to Bob Gaineys daughter and Mtl is his first choice of destinations after that an eastcaost team. He would bring a lot of heart and grit to Vcr. He played with the Portland Winterhawks as a junior.
