Remy
This was the rumour on Reddit a few days ago, but it was promptly debunked. http://ca.eonline.com/news/455243/jack-nicholson-not-retiring-from-acting-rumors-are-just-plain-cuckoo
DeNiro
Small role, but A Few Good Men was one of his best IMO.
The Bookie
Chinatown for best acting, Batman for most memorable.
Herberts Vasiljevs
Cuckoo's Nest and As Good as it Gets are two of my favourite movies of all time. The ending of Cuckoo's Nest is art.
Offensive Threat
The Two Jakes. Was a sequel to China Town made 16 years later and while the movie was mediocre his acting was great. Somethings Gotta Give. The back and forth between him and Diane Keaton is just fantastic to watch. 2 amazing talents at the top of their game. Theres many more but those 2 stand out for me. GLASSJAW
The 76-year-old, who began his career in the 1950s, also fears audiences no longer enjoy the type of films he wants to make: "The movie business is the greatest business but I only want to do films that move people, films about emotions and people. "I had the most chilling thought that maybe people in their twenties and thirties don't actually want to be moved anymore. They may want just to see more bombs, more explosions, because that is what they have grown up with. And I'll never do that type of movie." Spoderman
Maybe but Ledger evolved the role, the way he said the lines and his body movement gave Joker that extra kick of crazy, organized, phychopath, and mystery.
Sugar baby watermelon
Was reading in the guardian that he's gettin' the gold watch. 76 yrs old, & apparently forgetting his lines. Fifty yrs of incredible movies(maybe I've seen half); incredibly TWELVE Academy nominations. Quite a 50 yr career, for Hollywood's most devilish actor..ever. Two questions-the flick you think he acted his best(expecting lots of cuckoo's); as well as the Jack role that was most memorable(lasting impression 4U)? Best.."Cuckoo's Nest", & supporting in:"Terms Of Endearment" Memorable?(well here's 2): "Carnal Knowledge"(w/Art Garfunkle, who was great also); & "The Postman Always Rings Twice". Five For Fighting
As good as it gets. Most memorable was a few good men. "You want the truth??? You can't handle the truth!!!" Best courtroom scene Ever!!!!
mbal23
Heath Ledger definitely had the sociopath side of Joker in "The Dark Knight", but he didn't bring the crazy entertainer side of the Joker that Nicholson brought.
Monty
Best film he was in was Chinatown. Best acting was The Shining. Most memorable to me is a tie between The Shining and Batman. I was 7 when I saw Batman in theatres, which was also the first time I saw Jack Nicholson. So he's memorable to me for that. However, he was a force in The Shining. Ghostsof1915
Chinatown, The Two Jakes, A Few Good Men. Proof in A Few Good Men there are no small roles, only small actors. He can take a non-threatening statement and turn it into life threatening one.
aGENT
This would be male actors, as Meryl Streep deserves to be placed in the top echelon. To those who suggest Daniel Day Lewis-I probably wouldn't argue.
skolozsy2
"How is your father doing these days?" "He's dead sir." "Well, dont I feel like the a**hole." Few good men, Cuckoo Nest, Chinatown, and the Departed. My personal favs.
