Good golly that makes me love him even more. We need more of that on the Canucks. I don't care if he fights, his game plus willingness to stick up for team mates....YES PLEASE.

I hope Kenins forces them to move a someone or two.... :towel:

Don't mean to rain on the Rons Kenins parade but he took on Pageau, a 5'9" 175-pound player. That's like picking a fight with Jordan Schroeder. Hardly a brave move, but yes...good on him for sticking up for O'Reilly.

He scored a big goal vs. the Jets, but IMO, he was on his way to the press box for the bad penalty he took in the third that the Jets scored on. So, he essentially went from a zero to a hero by scoring an important goal. Good on him for being clutch, but he was doing just what you would expect from a fourth line call up until he scored.

I hope he sticks and keeps getting better...he's been better than I expected him to be and it's great to see our prospects having some success...but, IMO, it may be premature to think Rons Kenins is giving JB any sense of comfort that he's capable of replacing any of the current Canucks forwards on a regular basis at this point in time.

From what I saw, he didn't pick a fight with anybody. He saw his teammate and captain on the receiving end of a questionable hit and responded exactly as he should. Then got jumped and acquitted himself relatively well. We need more of that on this team. Again, not talking about the fight at all. The response.

Otherwise, yup, bad play on the penalty (however I'd also say it's unlikely they score on it if Edler's @#$%'ing stick doesn't disintegrate). But he made sure he made up for it even before scoring the goal and definitely with it. And that's exactly what WD should expect of a gritty 4th liner who plays near the edge, the occasional penalty to kill.

He's hard to play against and is PRECISELY the type of player that you want on your 4th line. Maybe that moves Hansen up to the third and makes Kassian, Higgins or Matthias more expendable (or Hansen). Yes it's still early but there's another month before the deadline. By then we should have a far better idea. Besides, it's not like any of those guys are currently setting the world on fire.

Ronalds Kenins vs. Boston Bruins [FEB 13, 2015]

Of note is the solid Horvat-line shift from 3:39~3:00 of the 2nd period*. Nothing resulted from it from an offensive point of view, but it was a great display of hustle by the trio: Hansen intercepting a pass and bringing it back in; Kenins with a couple solid hits; Horvat with a hit and steal on Chara.

Hansen, Horvat and Kenins were fantastic against the Bruins. Kassian and Matthias are generating some nice chemistry right now and I believe Dorsett should stick with Horvat chemistry-wise, but Kenins looked good wherever in the lineup he plays. Brings energy, lots of hits and can shoot the puck nicely.

I don’t think he’s ever seen a forecheck on which he didn’t want to crash into something. Never peeling off your checks tends to play well when you’re “4L energy guy” real well.

“Ronny and Bo played Chara hard,” Matthias marvelled. “Ronny hits. He’s not very tall but he’s thick. He’s a good player.”

Damn that shift they had where both Ronnie and Bo nailed hit Chara pretty good was a thing of beauty. And when Bo hit Chara then out-hustled him to the puck, I got goosebumps.

Didn't expect much from Kenins, but we might have something here folks.

I rewound that shift a few times...it was pretty much hockey porn

Another rookie bringing the energy to this hockey club! I'm loving watching his compete level. So great to see the young guys not backing down from Lucic and Chara and actually taking it to them!! Keep it up boys!!!

i love how kenins makes another forward expendable for a trade :)
