At least, when you’re around Ryan Kesler. On the first day of training camp, he promised he’d make the doubters eat their words. On the third day, he wasn’t quite so nice. Or clean. Everyone keeps waiting for fireworks from John Tortorella. That will have to wait. They got a spark Friday, however, and that was from Kesler. “To be honest, I don’t listen to that #^!&,” said Kesler, when asked about people who think the Canucks are on the downslide and are no longer one of the top five teams in the league. “That’s what it is. It’s #^!&. We believe in ourselves in the dressing room. All those negative comments we’re not even going to … “To be honest, I shouldn’t have even answered that question. It’s #^!&.” Kesler did show up at training camp healthy this year. He says it’s the first time in two years. But he’s also got a chip stapled to his shoulder. Kesler said he wasn’t good enough last year, and promised he will be better this season. It will be for lots of reasons.
