Mustapha
Wow that's quite a season.....a 49 win season for Louie you say? You do realize that this isn't the NW division anymore.... On another note, I had this dream where Patrick Roy won 10 OT games for the Canadiens in the playoffs and went on to win the Conn Smythe and the Stanley Cup.... Oh wait, that actually happened in 1993
nazzy_rocks23
CDC should have a fantasy/prediction thread where Canucks fans can relive their wet dreams and post unrealistic statistics and surreal scenarios in which we win the Stanley Cup. There is not a chance in hell that Booth, Kassian, and Shinkaruk put up that many goals this season. There is no way an aging Daniel Sedin puts up 50+ goals in this new physical skilled type of hockey we are seeing (LA Kings). Don't let your inner canuck bias get ahold of you now

Riviera82
Just did a quick scan of the OP again and apparently we're an offensive juggernaut like we haven't been since the early '90s. 278 goals between our top ten scorers alone. Now that's impressive.
Mustapha
All that's missing from this 'prediction' is Luongo becoming a Super Saiyan in the Stanley Cup Finals.
TheCammer
Start Sedins-Kassian Shinkaruk-Kesler-Booth Burrows-Schroeder-Hansen Higgins-Richardson-Wiese Edler Beeska Hamhuis Garrison Alberts Tanev The Canucks start out with some major depth. Higgins isn't in the dog house but there is no room in the top 9 for now and Hansen out Honey-Badgers him. The depth in the wings doesn't pan out as the Canucks go 2-5-3 in their 1st 10 with 7 points. Lu is looking alrightish with a 2.45 GAA and a .91 SV% low scoring losses/wins. PP isn't clicking, 3 for 18 and our 1st and 3rd D pairing are shaky. Canuck top 10 point leaders are, Shinkaruk 3G 1A 4pts D. Sedin 2G 2A 4pts Kassian 2G 2A 4pts H. Sedin 0G 4A 4pts Garrison 2G 0A 2pts Kesler 1G 1A 2pts Booth 0G 2A 2pts Edler 0G 1A 1pts Alberts 0G 1A 1pts Tort rants and the lines change... Sedin Sedin Kassian Shinkaruk Kesler Burrows Booth Schroeder Hansen Higgins Richardson Hamill Edler Tanev Hamhuis Bieksa Garrison Corrado And the fire works begin... The Canucks hit the sweet spot in the first 5 of these 20 games then lose three in a row but look good doing it. Torts injects some cocaine directly into Kesler's aorta and the team goes for a run.... for 12 games straight, muscling their way into the leagues top echelon. The lights go on. Shinkaruk is the real deal. *disclaimer, I had it on for Hunter prior to his 1 goal. Sedin Sedin Kassian Shinkaruk Kesler Burrows Booth Hamill Hansen Higgins Richardson Sestito Edler Tanev Hamhuis Bieksa Garrison Corrado 19-6-5 43pts Canuck top 10 point leaders are, D. Sedin 14G 9A 23pts H. Sedin 3G 16A 19pts Shinkaruk 10G 6A 16pts Kesler 11G 4A 15pts Kassian 7G 8A 15pts Burrows 3G 11A 14pts Booth 5G 4A 9pts Edler 0G 5A 5pts Hansen 2G 2A 4pts Hamill 1G 3A 4pts Schroeder not producing he gets traded for a low pick, he played well just couldn't be consistent, Hamill looking good though gets a shot at the 3rd C. The next 30 Canuck games keep them winning even though their winning streak was cut short at 13 game, they continue to show their division titles weren't a fluke by losing just 6 in the next 30 games and take the top seed in their conference. 43-10-7 93 Pts GF 172 GAA 109 Luongo is sitting at 2.02GAA and .931 SV% with a record of 32-5-3 The last 22 games go solid with the Canucks going 18-2-2 but the last game of the season is a blow out loss with Lu getting pulled after letting in 5 on 6 shots tarnishing his season stats of not letting in more than 3 goals in a single game this season. Still with a respectable 2.01 GAA and a .931 SV% and the best GA in the league locking him and Lack in for the Jennings. Nominees for the Vezina are Rask. 2.02 GAA .932 SV% 4 SO 37W Luongo. 2.01GAA .931 SV% 6 SO 49W Lundqvist. 2.09 GAA .928SV% 4 SO 31W 61-12-9 131 Pts with that final loss the Canucks were just short of tying the record for most points in a season and most wins in a season. Luongo sets a new league record of 49 W and also won the Gold Medal at Sochi. Canucks clinch the Presidents Trophy and go into the play-offs ready and raring to choke. San Jose is up first, media is saying Luongo can't handle the pressure as he looked bad in his last game. Torts loses it at a press conference, the Canucks are looking bad.... But feel oh so good. *Sidenote - Sestito did not have any untapped potential and just looked alright, and the Sedins blocked shots without asking for a trade. Kesler did not get injured and Booths wife shot a bear while on a Bible study. Final top 10 Point leaders for the Canucks. H.Sedin 31G 72A 103Pts - Art Ross Trophy D.Sedin 51G 44A 95Pts Kesler 47G 37A 84Pts Booth 32G 29A 61Pts Kassian 31G 21A 52Pts Burrows 16G 30A 46Pts Shinkaruk 28G 18A 38Pts Hansen 22G 15A 37Pts Edler 7G 19A 26Pts Higgins 13G 12A 25Pts Line Up going into the Play-offs Sedin Sedin Kassian Shinkaruk Kesler Burrows Booth Hamill Hansen Higgins Richardson Santorelli Weise/Sestito Edler Tanev Hamhuis Bieksa Garrison Corrado Alberts Luongo Lack Canucks sweep it 4-0 and send the Sharks back to the depths even though the penalties were 17-8 in the Sharks favour. Luongo had 3 Shut-outs and only let in 1 Goal. Kesler leads the team in scoring with 5G 2A. Luongo with a 0.25GAA and a .989 SV% after 4 games. Canucks out-scored the sharks 14-1. 2nd Round Canucks vs Anaheim. Anaheim prove tougher than expected after eliminating the Kings in the 1st round in 6 games but nonetheless the Canucks with Luongo putting up stellar numbers and the offense clicking put them down but not with-out trouble. Shinkaruk took a big hit in the last game and is out day to day with and upper body injury and Higgins has a lower body injury, no time-line given, Sestito takes his place. Canucks win it 4-2. Luongo never let in more than 3 goals. Luongo 1.27GAA and a SV% of .944 H Sedin leads the scoring with 4G 9A 13pts Kesler with the most goals 8G 4A 12pts Conference Finals Canucks vs Chicago. The Canucks lose the 1st two games by a score of 5-1 and 3-0. Fairy tale is over it seems heading back to Chicago down 2-0 in the series. Lu cracks and lets in 2G on 2 shots, Torts isn't even going to let it happen and pulls him. Lack stands in and the Canucks lose it 4-1. With the Canucks offence drying up Shinkaruk returns to the line up with the Canucks in a must win situation. Oh, and how they win. Luongo gets the start and does what he does after he's pulled, plays his best and Chelsea's Dagger stays in her sheathe as the Canucks blast Crawford and the Hawks 6-0. Shinkaruk with Hat-Trick, Each Sedin gets 1 and Kesler gets a Gordie Howe. Canucks back at Rogers Arena game stays scoreless going into the 3rd period when Kassian gets a short-handed break away and beats Crawford five hole, but just barely, the new rules cost Crawford dearly as Tanev nets an empty netter. 2-0 Nucks, series is 3-2 for the Hawks. Back in the Mad-House the Canucks take it to Crawford hard out-shooting the Hawks 20-8 going into the 3rd but the Hawks have the lead still at 1-0. Kesler takes a puck to the face off a deflection at the end of the 2nd period and is out for the rest of the game. With Kesler off the Hawks take it to Luongo hard and score off a face-off. Down 2-0 with 15 minutes left in the game, Shinkaruk draws a penalty which prompts Torts to pull Luongo for the extra attacker. 6 on 4 and It pays off when Garrison blasts a shot that is tipped down by D. Sedin score is 2-1 with 13 minutes left. In need of a hero with only 5 mins left in the 3rd Corrado dumps the puck in on Crawford, Crawford holds it but it looked shakey, whistle blows and Crawford stands up, they can't find the puck. Video replay then shows the puck slide between Crawfords 5 hole and slide under the padding in the left corner of the front of the net. The Refs find it, 2-2. 21 Seconds later Garrison blasts one from the point, Burrows with the rebound is robbed by the pad of Crawford but he digs for it and pushes it in, Burrows with the GWG Canucks stay alive 3-2. Going into game 7 at Rogers Arena, Lu has a 1.86 GAA with a .931 SV% Puck drops and the Canucks score, Kassian just 13 seconds in nets one off a beauty pass from Hank, 1-0. Stays that way going into the 2nd, Luongo standing on his head as the Canucks are being out shot 24-9, Torts is fuming at the amount of shots getting through to Lu. 3rd period 1-0 Nucks with the shots 31-12 for the Hawks. Toews gets a short-handed break away and his robbed by the pad of Lu. Tanev grabs the rebound and with a no look pass straight up the middle finds Shinkaruk, Canucks on a 3 on 1. Shinkaruk to Daniel, Daniel to Shinkaruk who sends it right back to Daniel, shoots, hits the post Henrik with the rebound, SCORES!!! 2-0 Canucks with 1:30 left in the 3rd period. The Canucks have done the impossible, they come back from a deficit of 3 games. The Canucks are going to the Stanley cup Final, a chance at redemption as they face the Detroit Red Wings for the Cup. TheCammer
How will the season go? 1.) Hodgson will score a goodly amount of points, or he will underperform from what is expected. Either way, regardless of his performance, fans will bitch about the trade. 2.) Grabner will score lots of goals, or he will underperform. Either way, regardless of his performance, fans will bitch about the trade. 3.) David Booth will score a goodly amount of points, or he will underperform from what is expected. Either way, regardless of his performance, fans will bitch about the trade. 4.) Keith Ballard will have a bounce back year, or he will underperform. Either way, regardless of his performance, fans will bitch about the trade, Gillis and AV. 5.) Schneider will either play lights out in NJ, or he will show that he isn't quite ready to take on the duties of a #1 NHL goalie. Either way, regardless of his performance, fans will bitch about the trade and Gillis. 7.) The Sedins will be signed to an extension during the regular season, or not. Either way, fans will bitch about their contracts and knock Gillis. 8.) Edler will play lights out, or he will show signs of play from last season. Either way, fans will bitch about his contract and knock Gillis. 9.) Kassian will play much better, or not show enough improvement to make everyone happy. Either way, fans will bitch about the trade and knock Gillis. And so on... regards, G.
