David Leroux has modernized a classic, and both artist and recipient love the finished product (we do too). We know it may look like an Oilers mask, but the huge Islanders logo puts an end to any speculation. Harvey Specter Posted November 20, 2014 Share Posted November 20, 2014 Four years ago, many thought Pat Burns would be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, and every year since, more and more people have supported the notion. Well, that perceived injustice has been rectified. The late Pat Burns was inducted into the HHOF this Monday, with his son and wife accepting the honou on his behalf. It was an emotional ceremony, but it’s fair to say the memory of one of the great coaches in NHL history is alive and well. This new mask, painted by David Leroux of Diel Airbrush, was done for a member of Burns’ family and it’s a wonderful tribute to the man, coach, father, husband, and friend. Great art piece by David Leroux (via InGoalMag) honouring the late Pat Burns, who has officially taken his rightful place in the HHOF. (While the url mentions "Halak pays tributes..." it doesn't seem like an NHL goaltender will be wearing this mask, but ultimately it fits the occasion and hopefully other posters won't mind this technicality...) It features his usual mask elements - flame on the chin, almost devil-like tails on the two sides, with design cues synonymous with Brodeur. But I'm quietly hoping he starts that game... he would look intimidating af in black. On the same token, really hoping for a nice clean check from Virtanen in those colours. Would make for a fantastic .gif. Something about those jerseys just makes every player look like a bully (a late 80s/early 90s bully, that is).
