It's not about the leafs but how the league is run. Injury trumps intent and that is bass ackwards. It doesn't matter if there was an injury or not but what the player was trying to do. What your Leaf player did is worth many games if Kassians is worth five.

Kassian definitely should've been more in control than that, totally reckless. I'm alright with the number of games Kassian was suspended for, however, what really pisses me off is the lack of supplemental discipline for other plays that have been way more vicious (star example: Duncan Keith). As long as other players are getting the same treatment as Kassian did, then it's not really a big deal. Shanahan really needs to clean it up.

I think Dale Weise should've gotten more games. What he did was just stupid.

I'm not a fan of the suspension at all. However, Kassian was extremely reckless with his stick, and caused Gagner to get a broken jaw and missing teeth. If this was Eager doing this to Kesler you guys would want his blood. Its 5 regular season games, in which he is suspended. Thats 5/82.... Kassian can still play the next 77 after.

Any hockey player knows when you go into the boards backwards like that you automatically reach for the dasher lip by instinct to hold yourself up/cushion the blow and stop your spine from hitting the edge.Dont understand why they are treating it like he intended anything.
