Interesting, but Weber is making him forgettable.

Better than Alberts

Is he a better fit on Vancouver's defense than Alberts ?

As much as Alberts can be a cement head, he does provide a much needed physical element and at a good bargain.

He was atrocious for them last night and Ballard had to carry him all game and save him from causing a goal, Ballard also ended up scoring a tying goal so Blum was of no use to them.

Ya, we're ok on RD now, if anything there is competition on RD between Corrado and Weber. I think our contracts are at 50/50 anyway.

I believe weber has the potential to date the sisters, as they may finally be able to move on from the Erhoff breakup.

Although he may have more upside than Fat Alberts

are people still calling the Sedins the 'sisters', @##$% I thought we were done with that after they both won Art Ross trophy's and were our leading scorers in the 2011 playoff run.

Short answer is no.
Blum is a 'finesse' right side guy who would be pretty redundant at this point with Corrado and Weber vying for a spot.
Alberts is an under-rated guy, more of the stay-at-home type - and signed for a bargain. He has proven that he can be a very stable 7th man despite sporadic opportunities - has been ready and solid. Very happy to have Alberts back at 600k - there were no better options near that price.

Ehrhoff landed with the right dance partner imo - has blended in well with the other overpaid UFAs on the Buffalo roster...

I'd be pretty happy if we claimed him.
He's at least as good as Weber, and has potential to be eve better.

I would agree with this. I don't think he's a "must have" type of defenseman but he could be a good 6th or 7th defeseman.

Unlikely Canucks claim him, but I hope someone does. He's good enough to be playing in the nhl.

I think we should just trade for Ballard. Maybe for Shinkaruk and a 1st?

He doesn't skate as well as Weber though and that's really one thing we need most.

Blum has pretty good vision and passing, as well as a hard slapper, but he isn't going to improve on any single aspect over what we have now.

harmless joke. I think calling them "sisters" is funny.

I would jump on the waiver claim to get him....In 2011, he was playing big minutes in the playoffs against us and was fairly solid

Funny considering he was higher up on our chart than Weber. I'd definately claim him considering how badly Alberts has played and that Corrado will spend the entire season in the AHL.

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Tanev
Garrison - Blum
Weber
Alberts
Corrado

I don't think there's a need to add another defencmem.
Weber really impressed me last night, although I didn't get a chance to see how he played in previous games, isn't he at 1g and 2 assist in the preseason so far?
I'm really rooting for corrado to make the team and with weber as our 7th defencmem I think we can afford to pass on Blum
