Procrastination problem?

i dont believe in procrastination. that's just another excuse to call yourself lazy because you really don't know what you want to do with your life. if you're serious in what you're doing and what path you go, you'll have no problem studying to achieve what you want. but for those who do find it difficult to study, among paying off student loans, working to pay for your schooling, bills, all this other stuff life throws at you, i understand. it's not easy

unless you're one of these jerkdicks who have mom and dad paying for your schooling and you're living with them and you don't even have to work, then i have no sympathy for you being lazy-- going out and partying all the time, then saying "oh, i have exams coming up. **** my life"

I know making schedules doesn't help, they certainly don't help me, but grab an agenda. Every day write down everything you need to do for the next week or two. Focus on finishing one or two tasks per day, checking it off when you finish. It'll also help you remember when all of the important dates are, i.e. exams, papers due, etc.

I've had procrastination problems all my life, and I find that this really helps. Gives you a feeling of accomplishment every time you finish something, and really helps you stay on track. And you usually don't have to do much if you divide up your work, usually a couple of hours a day tops. I usually do my work right after school, at the library (staying focused at home is hard, you're usually more productive at school/the library) for a few hours before heading home. If there's any work I didn't get done, I finish it up right after dinner. Get rid of all distractions while your work, especially your phone. If you need your computer, get an extension for Chrome like StayFocused. It blocks all sites you want, like FB and Twitter, for a certain amount of time or you can set certain time periods during the day and it will automatically block access to those sites at that time every day for you.

If you find it hard to stay focused when doing your work, take breaks. I do 45 mins of work, 15 mins break. When you're on your break, get up and walk around, drink some water. Try not to get back on your phone or go on any social media sites 'cause you'll tend to get distracted and be on there for too long. Sleep's really important too and you can get to bed early if you just commit during the day. I find that with this method I usually finish at around 8PM at the latest, and have a few hours to kill before going to bed.

Hope that helps man, I understand what it's like and it's definitely tough but good luck!

Ah, high school. Don't worry about it then, it's easy enough that you can get away with it. Unless you're a super genius you'll probably have to fix your habits in university to get good grades though.

I was a procrastinator in high school, stayed the same in university and went from being a 95 average student to 70. Dropped out because I knew I wasn't going to get into grad/vet school with those marks, and I wasn't interested in what I was studying. So really the only advice I can give is, pick subjects you're good at and interested in. Obviously you'll need to take a few unrelated courses to complete your degree, but don't do what I did, which was try for a degree in biology when my strong subjects were math and physics
