Burrows or Kesler?

So if you could only choose one of these two players for the next 4 years, who would you choose..............considering contract, overall health, salary, play over the last 3 years, etc.

In my books they are both overrated based on salary but I'd choose Burrows because he's not hurt 50% of the time.

Kesler. Without him we have no 2nd line. He also brings tenacity and leadership, just like Burrows, but he also has more skill.

But isn't Burrows on our second and sometimes first line already??? So what does that already say about us.

A lot of teams have and use complimentary players, such as Kunitz in Pittsburgh. Would you say Kunitz is a top line forward? Probably not, but he melds well with the top line players and allows the talent to be spread throughout the lineup. This is the case with Burrows.

Burrows in a heart beat, and for a lot of reasons -

- equal grit and physical play

- consistent grit and physical play

- moveable up and down the lines (without building chips on his shoulder)

- more able (or simply more willing?) to adapt to his linemates strengths to make a stronger team (rather than seemingly always needing to show he's a solo star)

- more durable (or at least doesn't talk about his injuries and then about how he's not using his injuries as an excuse)

- better team attitude (haven't seen even a flash of Kesler's "it's about me" style)

- consistently over the years has plugged the timely clutch goals (not just the odd game)

- took the "home town" discount (rather than just talked about how other guys should)

Kunitz was invited to the Canadian team Olympic try out. Burrows wasn't.............please don't compare these players any more!

Constantly 'sets us all straight' about Coho.

Also constantly throws Kesler under the bus.

Kunitz also went there because Crosby is there. The Sedins didn't get invited to Canada's Olympic tryout, for obvious reasons.

Have to keep Kesler based on both contract/NTC and ability. We have a few guys JUST like Burrows with varying skill sets in Hansen Higgins Santorelli. Burrows is that utility player coaches salivate over and sadly is more cap friendly.

love em both but if one had to go for many reasons Burrows.
