The guy has 4 points (1G 3A) +5 in his last 5 games, and he's already matched his career high in points (8) in the NHL.

Seems like his Dutch league scoring touches are coming back.

He's much, much improved from last year. He's starting to look like a legitimate third liner

Always liked him, think he can become a bigger Hansen if he keeps improving. Starting to make a lot of good plays on the cycle, protecting the puck and getting chances. Just needs to work on his tenacity, he has the open ice speed for sure.

He's learning to use his chin.

Yeah, Oreskovich also had a good chin but never really found out how to use it well consistently.

He was always better suited to a 3rd line role than a 4th line role.

He just has had too many players ahead of him to get a shot before.

It seems as if Weise is getting better with each game. On top of sticking up for his teammates he's also providing some solid secondary scoring. I think he had (and still has) a lot to prove this season, especially with his former coach from NYR coming over. Glad he's doing well.

Weise shows the ability to be more than just a 4th line minutes-eater. It's nice that he's actually being used in an attacking role.

Definitely the most improved Canuck. If he keeps this up, he could probably snatch the team's unsung hero award.

I'm much more impressed with him this season compared to last, he seems to be making a lot more plays and general seems to be a better puck handler compared to the dump and chase style he used to be.

Been trumpeting The Wheeze for some time now. This is like a beauty mid-round pick that panned out! Excellent waiver claim. These kinda' guys balance out 2 or 3 bad draft choices in year's past. Somebody deserves big credit for saying to nab this bloke!

I wonder if playing in the D last year hurt him a bit? in terms of getting used to having extra time with the puck that you don't get in the NHL. I am surprised he looks ok this year. He is hanging onto passes this year, I recall him being a bit of a puck bobbler in the past.

Playing really well with 'heart and soul'? Sign him on the canucks special, 4.5 mill a year for four years with a full no movement clause.

Mike Gillis Fired after he misses the playoffs once, Alain Vigneault fired after winning two straight Presidents Trophies and then having a bad year in a lock-out year.

These might be the Canuck's Franchise's worst moves in their history only time will tell.

Always thought he was a good 4th liner..I remember when people weren't happy with him and thought he was a plug; I never got that since the beginning and still don't. He's a solid 4th liner and has improved quite a bit this year.

...but that head, man is it something! First head I've ever seen resemble the shape of a guitar pick...now that's special

On pace for a 20 point season which isn't exactly 3rd line numbers, and he'll probably end up below 10 goals. Not a 3rd liner but a very good 4th liner.

I think once he reaches his full potential he can be a solid 10-goal scorer, someone who can bounce between the 3rd and 4th lines. He's always had good speed and his hands aren't spectacular but they aren't bad either:

He's always had it in him to play like he is now. People underestimate how difficult it is to put together a physical game with creating turnovers, winning battles on the boards, and staying defensively responsible. Calling it a "simple game" is a horrible misnomer, one Weise has had to put up with for years and that Kass is feeling the heat for now.

Now a 4th line of Sestito - Richardson - Weise seems like one of the best we could potentially have in years...

Anyone think this is Torts doing his magic coaching? It seems like most of the players (more noticeably the bottom 6 players) have improved their play. It seems like our 4th liners tend to make lesser mistakes and are able to clear pucks from our zone with lesser mistakes this year compared to the past. You can see even Sestito has played better than last year.

Is it because Torts give better instructions and coaching to tell the players what to do so that they have an idea and understanding what to do? Hopefully this will continue to build confidence into our depth players and make them harder to play against.

Weise scores a few goals and is resurrected. 4th line wannabee to 3rd line budding star. He actually played some pretty solid hockey last year.

The issue IMO is the ice time the 4th line is getting. 4 -5 minutes a game is not enough for a serious playoff team. I feel sorry for Torts as no matter what Van does they cannot seem to close in on Pacific opponents. I think Sestito has a lot more to offer as well. It made me cringe last night on their 2:1 when they passed rather than taking the shot. To me it is the Sedin disease.

Fixed that for ya.

I don't know why Archie isn't in the lineup, he pretty much proved to be more effective than Sestito in a short period of time and isn't a defensive liability. Should have fought someone.

Tostitos has played really well recently. Solid road-trip from him and he earned a spot in the lineup for the next few games.
