as someone who doesn't play any sports games anymore (football manager aside), why do people hate EA sports so much?

I imagine it would be because they seldom fix any of the issues with their game upon release. I play the NHL series religiously, but there are a lot of bugs that have constantly shown up again and again year in and year out and they never go out and fix them. If they do, they wait until the next game is released to do so. It's very frustrating. Their games are very buggy.

Their games suck nuts, There is clearly minimal effort put into their annual releases. FIFA is not bad, but NHL, Madden, and NBA are just lazy as all hell.

The EA Sports brand name just begs mediocrity at best. It's a shame, because there was a time when buying from those series, even MVP Baseball, was almost a guarantee you were getting your full money's worth. Now they just cash in by dressing roster updates as full releases.
