Whats up with Schneider now?

Del Rio

Recommended Posts

Past 5 games. Please. You're going to say Schneider has a problem right now letting in 3+ goals in the past few games? Maybe he's in a bit of a funk or a slump. He's still a good goalie but he's probably either battling the flu that we don't know about, or a minor injury or as I said earlier, just in a cold slump where pucks aren't sticking to him and just going through him.

Actually his dog died, his mother has thoughts, so does his father, he's home sick about Boston, he has the flu, he has minor injuries, he doesn't breath properly, he doesn't sleep well these days, he is going through some stuff in his mind, he received snow in his eyes, the team in front of him isn't good enough for Schneider to do his thing, he's temporarily off balance, he doesn't have the same goalie coach, he's having problems with his girlfriend, it's Christmas...

.........and so on...

Meanwhile in Canucks land...

He's a good goalie, he will be a great goalie, but it would be ridiculous to expect him to carry a team right now.

Schneider:

GP 115 - W 59 - L 34 - OT 13 - Min. 6409 - GA 235 - SA 3138 - GAA - 2.20 - PCT .925 - SO 11

Luongo @ 27 years old:

GP 417 - W 162 - L 190 - OT 15 - Min. 23634 - GA 1037 - SA 3138 - GAA - 2.69 - PCT .917 - SO 32

This includes only one year in Vancouver, playing for lowly FLA for five years and lowly NYI for one.

It is safe to say that despite Luongo's 2.69 GAA and .917 PCT, which are really, technically slightly worse than Schneider's, that Luongo's 23,634 minutes played by the time he was 27 years old, made him the guy that carried his team.

Or explained another way, Schneider, now 27 years old, has played 27% the amount of games Luongo had played by the time he was at that age.

Schneider is 27 years old. He is not a 1G like many professed here. Sure he's good. But remember Luongo hitting his prime about three years ago. Schneider has about three or four years left of growth left and then the decline will start to start. Luongo on the other hand, has carried every team he's been on on his back and doesn't show that much of a slowing down curve. He is in the same league as the other greats that played the game. Of course, Vancouver fans are as blind as bats and could not recognize history in the making even if it played in their own rink.

Schneider got greedy, Schneider got traded, Schneider pays the price.

How the hell did you take me saying "he will be a great goalie" and turn it into a Luongo vs Schneider argument? Wtf?

Most people expected him to carry the Canucks and be the savior....They believe we traded away the Sidney Crosby of goaltenders

its not...

CARRY "A" team.

It is Martin Brodeurs Team.

You know the guy, best goalie that every played?

Or the one with the best stats. Who cares?

Brodeur is just testing schneiderman. You know like training a successor?

Martin aint long for this leeg guys...and its not like he has done any substantial training with "backups" other than Hedberg in the last 5 years.

CRASH COURSE COREY! you got this year and next to learn what Brodeur wants to teach, then you are on yer own buddy!

You had a lot longer with Looo.

I bet you pick up more what you need to learn with Martin, than with Roberto.

Lack is better than Lou and

Lou is not a big game goalie face it

When you get drafted 4th overall you don't have to play as a backup. You'd think Schneider would be performing better from learning from 2 great goalies

Yeah, and Hodgson is a locker room cancer. Love it how CDC starts hating all good players that get traded away, completely without reason or logic. You people really act like three year olds... It's crazy.

He isn't playing that bad. And also goaltenders don't always play that well, Luongo has played bad for long periods of time too...

vs CHI 5 GA .865 SV%

vs ANA 3 GA .875 SV%

vs PIT 3 GA .870 SV%

vs DET 3 GA .857 SV%

vs MTL 3 GA .900 SV%

Isn't bad hockey? That's not giving your team a chance to win.

Why do people always overvalue people we trade. People are still crying about Hodgson and now defending Schneider for allowing 3+ goals in 5 straight games... Glad I moved on and thanks for Horvat New jersey

I dont disagree at all with your comment....he hasnt given his team much chance to win. But the Devils were also out-shot 37-12....the team isnt giving thier goaltenders much chances to succeed either.

It definitely is Schneider's play. People think it's the Devils' failing to give him a shot to win.

Look at Brodeur, he's winning. He's actually above .500 hockey and Schneider is like 4-8.

I've been following the Devils since the start of the season because they're my 2nd team after the Canucks. Schneider hasn't been the greatest.

Today's game against Chi-Town Schneider let in a few softies.

Schneider got frustrated a few weeks ago and asked for more games over Brodeur, but he needs to understand that Brodeur is simply out-performing him.

Yeah, because Luongo has never left in a softie, all goaltenders do.

I get that you are heartbroken that Luongo is here and Schneider isn't... If you are trying to make this a Luo vs Schneider thread Schneider still has a loooooooong ways to go.

This is about Schneider's play which has been bad. I don't get what part of BAD you don't understand when you just bring up Luo all the time
