Really glad CBC will be out of Hockey in 5 years

*Buzzsaw*

Recommended Posts

After once again having to listen to the one sided, Boston/Toronto/LA fan clubs which are CBC's commentators and analysts, I have to say, much as I used to love the old Hockey Night in Canada, that I will be really glad to see the end of their reign on the top of hockey coverage.

Just makes me nauseous to listen to them... almost worth missing the games they cover. Wish I had hockey coverage from other networks for the games CBC takes.

Just a bunch of boneheads...

None of them picked up on the goal by the Canucks which was disallowed, all falling over themselves to say how well the LA team was playing.

Oh CBC is frustrating to no end.

Especially because our taxes go towards them jerks.

Healy is a complete tool!!!!

I couldn't believe Cherry said that Kesler should've had two goals in the first, and that Booth won that icing race. And that Hrudey was complimentary about Lui! But everything else was from the L.A. side. It's sad really. No where in the States will you find the reverse about the Canucks.

But I am biased because will never forgive them for '94 and '11.

Really glad!! I hate those douce bags. It is disgusting listening to the game. They are so biased it is unreal. I for one am going to write to Rogers and urge them to fire all those bastards. They do not belong on a Canadian broadcast. They make me sick to my stomach. I think that the head of Rogers is a proud Canadian and I think he will fire those pricks. I am hoping he sits the lots of them down and points out how un-Canadian they are and them escorts them out with guards so they don't steal anything.

Okay, I don't like the CBC's attitude toward us either BUT I don't think getting rid of CBC is a good thing. HNIC has been a core part of CBC's programming for 6 decades. It's a Canadian institution and has been a pretty big part of our national identity (for better or for worse) for a long time. Selling that to Rogers doesn't do anyone any favours.

HNIC ads make up 1/3-1/2 of CBC's revenue and that all went to original programming and investigative journalism etc.

And in any case we may fund the CBC with taxpayer money but a lot of that taxpayer money also goes to Bell/Rogers/Telus in subsidies so... same thing.

I'm pretty liberal and definitely not Don Cherry's target demographic but I can appreciate / laugh about (not at!) his ridiculousness without being offended by it... similarly I know this is a hockey forum but since the CBC is being discussed I felt like I should point out it's about a lot more than hockey and losing the CBC isn't necessarily a good thing. Even if we're annoyed by it.

I only listened to the play-by-play tonight, and nothing during the intermissions, and came out of it less angry with CBC as a result. Those panelists in Toronto / HQ are hopefully all let go when Sportsnet takes over.

Actually I did hear them mention the disallowed goal. Crying about the commentators does nothing, the Kings deserved that win.

Really? I thought they were just as emotional and excited about both teams. Just because they aren't praising the Canucks 24/7 doesn't mean they're blatantly cheering for other team...

Don't worry - Christmas Holidays are almost over - the children will be off the boards and back in school soon.
