Amish Rake Fighter
Uwe Krupp when he signed with Detroit $16 million for 32 games, reduced by half due to a lawsuit Derian Hatcher's contract with Detroit, 5 years for $30 million, bought out after 27 games Cujo's 2 year $8 million free agent contract with Detroit, he ended up being the highest paid backup in the league. Nuxfanabroad
Messier's contract here was money well spent. Well it forced us to hit rock-bottom, admit all in group-therapy, & memorize 'The Serenity Prayer'.

Nuxfanabroad
I like how the Leafers signed Grabo(decent little player) to about 30 mill, then amnesty his arse while the ink's still wet!
oldnews
The thread should really be / could be split into two streams because those contracts signed before there was a salary cap are really inconsequential relative to those in the cap era. The consequences of a bad contract have obviously changed dramatically. In that sense, imo the worst contracts in NHL history are almost exclusively contracts that have damaged teams in the cap era. oldnews
The ones I find most distasteful are the buzzer beaters that the Wild signed right on the cusp of a lockout - a smaller market "have not" franchise - as the NHL was crying contract foul. TOMapleLaughs
... However really bad pre-cap contracts damaged the league as a whole, as several small market teams went or almost went extinct.
Henrik Kesler
And yet Milbury, the kid-bullying shoe-beater, still has the audacity to get on TV and tell other hockey people what's what. He also has the attachments to say John Scott is a player who should be out of the league when he was the exact same kind of player in his playing time. The ironing is delicious with Milbury. sam13371337
still cant tell who the bigger idiot is in long island... Snow or wang??? bad contracts seem to be a New York thing.... As the islanders/rangers , Knicks, And the NY Mets seem to dish out HORRIBLE contracts on a routine basis.. Being a yankee hater, Im hoping they will join this infamous list soon

Being a yankee hater, Im hoping they will join this infamous list soon I'm going to have to go with Wang, deserved or not. Either way you slice it, it comes back to him. If you think Snow is an idiot, who is the guy who hired him? Wang. If you think Snow can't do a better job because of the restrictions placed upon him by owndership, who is the guy responsible for that? Wang. regards, G. Cant argue with that.. if hockeycentral is to be believed, Wang loves snow and wont fire him no matter what although at the end of the day Wang is stll a billionaire.. that's got to count for something i guess... si robertson
Not that these three players are bad, but shea weber, ryan suter, & zach parise contracts, in terms of money & lenght. Good players, but considering were they signed, in minny, & nashville, kinda handcuffs them. Also the sedins, again good players, but for 7 mil for four years, don't like that number, would've been more comfortable with 5.5, or 6.

To be fair, Milbury's drafting history is pretty damn good, it was just how he managed the assets afterwards that was bad.

We've gone from the AV system to the Torts system, the Sedins are PKing, hitting, blocking. Production may have dipped but for me the Sedins are playing some of their best hockey right now. Whereas Yashin, DiPietro, Redden, Drury, Gomez et al had massive contracts and provided next to nothing by way of return. So no, it's nowhere near close. YA so they're pking, hitting, but they're not producing at a good pace. Teams have figured them out, and they haven't come up with anything new.
