They essentially have two options Murderous Dictator Assad or Ruthless barbaric terroirst opposition? Tough call... Country like Saddam's Iraq or Country like Post-gadaffi Libya. Neither seem good. People get beheaded for less if you can believe that Syria Is under an al Qaida/jihadi invasion. The worse collection of the worlds scum straight out of the middle ages have gathered in 1 place, And are trying to export a sick ideology that makes a strongman dictator assad look like Syria's saviour. there is a reason after 3 years of onslaught from heavily backed terrorists, the Syrian arab army is still fiercely fighting, and reversing the battle both militarily/politically. even western leaders are starting to see the government as the only saviour, and have changed their stance for assad the person to resign, but keep the Syria arab army/government mostly intact. hopefully the warriors of the Syrian army can rinse Syria of this jihadi cancer.... I agree unlike what happened in Iraq Assad should only leave. but have the Army still intact and fight these terrorist scum. Al-Qaeda even disavowed the ISIS. That speaks volume about the organization when even al-qaeda doesn't want to be associated with you because you are too extreme....again, we are talking about al-qaeda. Imo ISIS cannot be allowed to take power in Syria at this point and I never thought I would say this but the best course of action appears to be backing the Assad regime.
