Sedins 55
We all know that at the start of the olympics there were a lot of rumors about security problems and some said that there could be possible bombing. I'd just like to say that the olympics this year were not bad they were better than anybody had expected them to be.
Gyllenhaal
The media blew everything way out of proportion. I enjoyed watching the games from home and thought the Opening and Closing Ceremonies were great. A good job hosting by Russia.

Papayas
of course there is no sucurity problem. However, I am pretty sure there was some extensive work on the security in Sochi behind the scene. just because nothing happened, it doesn't mean security wasn't an issue at the begining

Miss Korea Bob.Loblaw
It provided an excellent distraction to the ongoing world politics. No doubt Nicolas Maduro is relieved that the Venezuelan protests really kicked off during the Olympics. Countries know that these two weeks are the best times to do some serious, heavy-handed moves on others.

Herberts Vasiljevs
Money talks. However, a few billion was put towards the railroad system. It's not like Russia threw money aimlessly left and right.

Canuck or Die
$50 billion will do that, to put that in perspective Vancouver spent $2 billion Yet Vancouver was just as successful with just $2 billion rather than $50 billion.
MJDDawg
However, a few billion was put towards the railroad system. It's not like Russia threw money aimlessly left and right. Plus a freeway to Rosa Khutor and the development of that whole alpine resort area. Socchi itself looks like a pretty nice seaside city and with the infrastructure now in place, seems like that area would be ripe for growth and investment. Plus, considering that security costs for Vancouver 2010 later came in at about $1 Billion, I wouldn't be surprised if Socchi's security bill comes was ten times that. I thought the Russians put on a great Olympics that will go a long way to changing the way the rest of the world sees Russia. Putin should be commended for pulling this off with all the obvious regional challenges.
