Denguin
At this point if Florida wanted to simply give vancouver a 1st and 2nd this year, consider it a coup for Luongo Mark my words, even their draft picks will be cursed in Vancouver.
Jack Fig
I just hope Gillis is doing everything he can to get Luongo to where he wants to be and deserves to be Absolutely. If there's any kind of a deal to be had with Florida, do it....and then Mike can whine about the lack of return behind closed doors for all it matters. Bite the damn bullet. rawkdrummer
I remember back last summer someone saying Florida could use Lu back to help sell tickets. Lu is remembered very fondly by their fan base. I also think that the Canucks are trying to give Lu what he truly wants and that's to go back to Florida. I hope this is the case as it works for everybody (except a good amount of the CDC where you just can't win no matter.).

Vancouver Canucks 30
https://mobile.twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/439924467616063488 @TSNBobMckenzie I don't believe for a moment this decision to start Lack is related to any imminent Luongo trade possibility. rawkdrummer
As per TSN... Eight months after Cory Schneider was traded away, goaltender Roberto Luongo finds himself in another awkward situation with the Vancouver Canucks. Luongo will not get the start when the Canucks host the Ottawa Senators in the Heritage Classic at BC Place Stadium on Sunday. "I don't want to start going through this whole thing again," said Luongo, who has yet to start for the Canucks since returning from the Olympics. "I've always wanted to play in an outdoor game so I was excited when I saw that we got one this year. I was looking forward to it." "I believe Roberto Luongo feels this is somewhat of a slap in the face," said TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger. "Almost a year ago, he fought hard to get out of the Canucks organization and hoped for the same in the summer and that didn't materialize. You have to think this is going to amplify the hard feelings that may continue to exist between Luongo and the coaching staff and by extension, the management of the Canucks." Eddie Lack, who has started both Canucks' games since the Olympic break, has allowed just one goal in a shutout win over the St. Louis Blues and a shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild. "You also have to look at it from the prespective of head coach John Tortorella," added Dreger. "He doesn't care about the spectacle of the Heritage Classic, he cares about the two points on the line. Eddie Lack has been lights out good for the Canucks in the past couple of games. This is not a popular decision and I predict that this going to add to why this relationship between the player and the organization won't end well." yes we can nucks
I'm a huge Luongo fan so I'd hate to see him traded. But I accept that there's a real possibility that Lu gets moved by next season. I think when Gillis flew to Florida last summer to smooth things over with Lu, a promise was made to trade him closer to home at the most opportune time. And what better time than now? Luongo has proven that he can still play at a high level... having accomplished a save % of .924 just before the team crashed in January (due to team injuries), and having made Team Canada as the backup (no shame in that). Lack seems to have won the team's (and Torts') confidence in him. I think it's very possible Lu is in play. We'll know for sure if he isn't starting in the Heritage Classic! Farhan just say lack starts heritage classic? Bingo! Lu's in play. It's the only explanation. Tell me the Canucks brass isn't stupid enough to send Gillis and Torts over to Florida to smooth things over with Lu last summer... watch him play one of his best seasons... watch him play himself onto Team Canada... watch him conduct himself with nothing but class all season.... and then FOR NO REASON AT ALL.... slap him in the face AGAIN by sitting him three games in a row! They aren't THAT stupid... are they... are they? Hello?

Luo has become outspoken in his criticism of Gilligan, maybe in some final attempt to force his hand, maybe just out of sheer frustration.Either/or it ain't good for the face of the franchise. The Big Luongo
People need to stop crying and face the facts. Luongo has got outplayed by Schneider and now Lack and both coaches thought so and most fans with half a brain can see that too. Luongo has nobody to blame for this but himself letting these great skilled goalies take his job. Luongo has grown a lot from the cry baby excuse making soft goalie he was in the past and he now seems like a really great guy but it's all about winning and making the playoffs now and you put the goalie in that gives you the best chance and that's Lack. Good on Torts for making this ballsy move and good on MG if he can get something valuable before the trade deadline for Luongo.
Cold Hard Truth
Luongo doesnt even want to be here, Lack does. I got no problem with this,
Lui's Knob
Hard to win when no forwards are scoring, agree, both Lack and Luongo are about as good but you got to respect your #1 on an occasion like this. Torts is poisoning the locker room again. Anyone remember the Keenan days? Wash, rinse, repeat
Canada Hockey Place
Ummmm... where is the logic in this? When has sitting a goalie ever = trade? ie. Halak played the night before he was traded.
WiDeN
I can't see how this doesn't raise suspicions through the roof that Luongo is part of a deal that is in the works. That is the only explanation for this.

If a player is part of a trade that is not yet finalized, they will often sit to avoid injury that would compromise the deal. Eg. Ott and Miller being late scratches before being traded to St.Louis. GB5
Luongo is and probably always will be the best goalie to ever play for Vancouver. This team can't score so it seems like the blame rests on Lou, just like the SCF where he had two shutouts. Luongo is awesome both on and off the ice, unless he has been traded, this is a travesty. Considering how the Canucks treat Luongo as a backup goalie then Gillis better wake up and realize that he can't expect a top prospect and pick as a return, just be glad if someone offers a 3rd or 4th round pick and let Luongo go free. Junkyard Dog
I see NYI coming out of nowhere and trade for Kesler and Luongo. Pulock, Reinhart amd Strome all top prospects I want. There would be more to it than that though.
