Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Shinkaruk - Horvat - Jensen
Santorelli - Matthias - Kassian
Higgins - Richardson - Hansen

Kesler traded for defense/prospects

i like the idea of one of the leagues lowest scoring teams trading their highest scorer for defense. Good Call !

It's funny. Everyone talks about selling a player when is worth something. If we are rebuilding, then Kesler is worth a lot and the return is going to be high. That's why we are shopping Kes.
Buy low sell high.

Kes has an NTC.
'We' are shopping him because he wants out.
'We' have been rebuilding since giving away Hodgson-or was it taking on $19m + in Booth over 4?
Could have been in conjunction with not trading Ballard when it was evident AV had zero interest in playing him.Lots of cap space blown (can you say window,Canucks fans?) with Booth and Ballard not playing the roles they were brought in here to fill.

Some days the gods are kind, others not so much.

But for the OP, what they're referring to is that there was a line up thread posted earlier today that was locked since we've had 3 others already this month. I think it's safe to say we can probably keep any line up suggestions in one of the earlier ones.

The one locked earlier today:

Line-up looking past this year ( we r not making a run this year, let it go!)

The older ones:

lineup for next season? (March 9)

The Future of this team and the direction it is going (March 6)

Fill the lineup next year (March 5)

But... his post is far too different and important to be lost in another persons thread.....

I just let 'em know there are other threads already then report it so the mods can decide. Apparently this one was fit to continue so I'll just keep adding to the links for the next time someone posts a lineup thread (there has been at least one since this thread).

k seeing as people aren't realizing that matthias isn't a 4th line here's what i fully expect it to be assuming no moves are done

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows/Jensen

Kesler - Matthias - Burrows/Kassian

Higgins - Santorelli - Jensen/Kassian

Archibald - Richardson - Hansen

Bieksa - Hamhuis

Garrison - Edler

Tanev - Stanton

Lack

Markstrom

Scratches: Schroeder, Sestito, Weber/Corrado

sadly nothing has really changed, but this is why i believe if management wants to input youth in our lineup the only way is to trade Kes and Edler for assets/youth in order for us to slot in either Gaunce/Horvat/Corrado. Cause we have to face it our defense is pretty much set, as for our forward spots the only factor that might free up a roster spot is if santo doesn't resign

trust me after the numerous years having this management group don't be surprised if this is what you get. "bold" moves in their eyes is everything non-related to actual roster spots/lineups

If Corrado isn't a mainstay on the blueline next year I'll be surprised.

I won't. If we don't move a defenseman during this off-season then Corrado won't be playing with us. I would rather Corrado play 25 minutes in Utica being put in all situations than 5-10 minutes under torts. Remember Corrado is only 21(in 3 days) so he has a lot of time to grow.

BUSY DAY AT THE OFFICE BOYS:

Okay, here’s what I propose we look like for next season:

Keep:    FORWARDS     DEFENCE

            Burrows            Bieksa

            Higgins             Hamhuis

            Jensen              Garrison

            Kassian            Tanev

            Kesler               Stanton

            Mathias

            Richardson

            Santorelli

            D.Sedin

            H.Sedin

Discard: FORWARDS    DEFENCE

            Booth (Buyout)  Edler

            Hansen            Weber

            Schroeder

Demote: Archibald

              Dalpe

On the bubble:

            Sestito

Projected lineup:

F1        D. Sedin            H. Sedin                        Jensen

F2        _UFA__            Kesler                           __UFA_

F3        Burrows            Santorelli/Horvat            Higgins

F4        Richardson        Mathias                       Kassian

D1        Tanev                Bieksa

D2        Garrison            Hamhuis

D3        Corrado             Stanton

G1        Lack

G2        Markstrom/veteran backup

We have $10M in cap space going into next year, with Kassian, Santorelli, Tanev to resign on that list.

Kassian: 3 YR @ $2M per year

Santorelli: 2 YR @ $2M per year

Tanev: 5 YR @ 2.75M per year

Leaves us with $4.5M, in addition to $5M from Edler, 2.5M from Hansen, 4.25M from Booth, meaning in actuality, they have $16.25M to spend.

Notable free-agents; Ryan Callahan- could slot in beside Kes on F2 (4 YR @ 6M per year), Paul Stastny for F2 (2 YR @ 6M per season

Leaves us with 4.25M for minor league roster signings, depth signings, veteran goalie.

Potential depth FAs.

Victoria born- Adam Cracknell. Plays in Stl.

            Dave Bolland

            Steve Ott

            Tanner Glass (Bring him back!!)

            Trevor Lewis

            Blake Comeau

            Brian Boyle

Players to fight in the system:

Shinkaruk (doubtful he plays, he missed most of this season to injury)

            Gaunce

            Cassles

Obviously some things need to go a certain way, for example, Edler needs to waive his no-trade clause. getting FA to sign in Vancouver could be more difficult than in years past, but as we've all learned, money talks.

Thoughts?

Id rather have  Horvat on third line Center and let Santo be on Kesler's wing.  Higgy - Kes - Santo. Wouldnt mind that 2nd line.

Torts has stated numerous times that he likes KESLER on the wing. With all the injuries he had no choice to put him at center.

D SEDIN H SEDIN JENSEN
BURROWS HORVAT KESLER
HIGGINS MATTHIAS KASSIAN
SESTITO RICHARDSON HANSEN
DALPHE

Buy out Booth sign a good UFA R hand d man. If we trade KESLER than you sign a top notch RW UFA to play on the second line.

This really depends on what type of team the Canucks wants to be. I'm sure the owners are going to pressure Gillis to make this a playoff team again instead of a retool that is desperately needed.

If we are pushing for a playoff spot next year, it's clear we need help up front to start with.

Kesler if he remains, he needs to be on the wing. If we can have Paul Stastny centering him, we should have a solid 2nd line, which may actually end up being our 1st line, if not a 1a/1b situation.

We need to keep our young assets so UFA may be the only way to go.

The next obvious glaring hole is a puck moving offensive defenseman. IMO, along with many others we have too many redundant defenseman. Move Garrison if possible.

Why do you want Hansen out? He's one of the only players who works hard each and every game!

No. The Canucks aren't even in the same realm as these other teams. They aren't even close to being good enough to make the playoffs. They'll be off by around 10 points.

My lineup is:

1st: Lucic Crosby Perry
2nd: Benn Getzlaf Giroux
3rd: Sedin Sedin Burrows
4th: Sestito Lain Richarson

Defence:
Chara Weber
Suter Jones
Keith Karlsson

Goal:
Does it really matter with that lineup?

Okay guys, I've done the hard part of mapping out how we win the next 5 cups. Someone else figure out how to get them all here and under cap that's not illegal!

(Actually, I'm okay if its illegal as long as someone else gets arrested for it)
:canucks:

So unrealistic. Why would Karlsson be on the 3rd pair?

Our Bottom Six looks nice next year

Higgins-Horvat-Santroelli (15 mins a game)
Matthias-Richardson-Kassian (13 mins a game)

That just shows you our depth of bottom 6 six guys. And we still have

Sestito
Lain
Achiblad
Dalpe
Welsh
Schroeder

All pushing for Bottom 6 Spots

As for our Top Six

D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Jensen
_______-Kesler-Burrows?

I'd like to see another sniper added maybe Matt Mouslon? Ryan Callahan? Someone along those lines. plus add a top 4 d-man Like Matt Niskanen

Then our mini rebuild is complete add one of Perlini/Virtanen/Tuch/Richie to our prospect group and were set

if we dont trade kesler and if Horvat makes the team than this:

Burrows Henrik Jensen

Daniel Kesler Kassian

Higgins Horvat Matthias

Santo Richardsson Hansen

Sestito

that is a great bottom 6!!!!!!

If we do trade keeler we can either move santo to 2C between or use whichever young C we get from the kesler trade
