VMR
Lou so far... and will be for a long time to come. Imagine if he had the support up front scoring goals in the final.Lack has four shutouts so far in his Rookie season, if he gets the support from the team he could be better than Lou. Riviera82
GP- 64, W- 32, L- 31, GAA- 2.54, Sv%- .916, SO- 5 If this were a regular season record of Luongo's, who'd be satisfied with it? To me it looks ordinary. This is his playoff record. This is his playoff record playing for a team that was twice a Presidents Trophy winner and a division winner with home ice advantage to start every playoffs he participated in. For those of you who say he is a Hall of Famer, this record might cause him to lose a few votes. It's ordinary for the regular season in today's NHL, nevermind the playoffs. To be fair though I think Alain Vigneult deserves his fair share of the blame for this. Luongo is this franchise's best regular season goalie. TheRussianRocket.
Grew up watching McLean, watched the dark days with goalies like Irbe, Burke, Snow, Cloutier, Auld and Brochu. Can honestly say there was no one like Roberto he was hands down the best canuck goalie of all time.

Me_
Mclean was way better then Luongo. When the game was on the line Mclean would come up with the big save we needed. As the pressure increased his play got better. When we lost big games with Kirk in the net it was almost never his fault. Luongo melts down under pressure and as the games become more important his play diminishes. My guess is that most people on this board are too young to have seen Mclean play, because if they had there would be no question as to who the better goalie was. If you want a goaltender to rack up stats during the regular season, Luongo is your guy. If you want a goalie to make the big save when it matters, Mclean is it. Luongo was a game saving machine. He just made it look easier than McLean so you never noticed it in 8 years...

Neko
Lu is no doubt a fantastic goaltender, he has robbed of lots of scores from players that should have gotten a goal, something McLean almost never did. However McLean had a team that used a "box" defense system, which didn't play too well against high offensive teams and McLean faced a lot of fast players and was capable of stopping them, and the only other goaltenders capable of stopping them around that time were Hasek, Roy and Belfour. holdinout4homegrown
Loungo is/useless who in there right mind would consider him hall of fame material? Seriously that's sad he showed ability to choke on air when it mattered. In all honesty who wasn't holding their breath waiting for the clock to run out before Lou peed his pants in a pressure game. JeremyCuddles
Luongo is by far our best goalie ever, no contest. Why this question was asked is beyond me. It's gonna take something special to dethrone Bobby Luo.
Westcoasting
The Luongo we saw in his first couple years before the groin injury was the best Canucks goalie ever without a doubt. The next couple years he was a very good goalie just like McLean was, and the last couple years he was just another goalie like so many others. Absent Canuck
The Luongo we saw in his first couple years before the groin injury was the best Canucks goalie ever without a doubt. The next couple years he was a very good goalie just like McLean was, and the last couple years he was just another goalie like so many others. In my opinion this is the most accurate description of Luongo.
