missioncanucksfan
As per Tony G wondering since Booth has been playing great and showing he actually IS a hockey player and might be worth just playing out the final year of his contract Garrison on the other hand..... Surely Gillis walks the plank if Garrison is bought out. That being said I dont think Aqualini coughs up the dough for such a move. Maybe a move to bring in Brian Campbell whom Garrison had earlier success with. Thoughts?

asian player
He isn't really hurting the team, but he isn't contributing much either. For the money he makes, we could have somebody better. He's from white rock though so he gets a free pass
Boudrias
Garrison is subject to compete by other d-men who want his job. Van's trouble this year was more on the offensive side. Van's d-core does not have a focal point other than Bieksa who can rush the puck. Edler was a big disappointment this year. He has played better, does that mean we keep him like Booth? I can see the Van defense being resurrected faster than the offense. Garrison will not be bought out. Hopefully Booth has played well enough that another team will take him. Another question is Hanson. Is he being impacted by coaching or has his game deteriorated as badly as it appears. The offensive coach for Van might get a pass because of injury or maybe because Torts dominates but there are questions there as well.

Provost
Keep in mind the huge inflation we will see due to the rising salary cap this summer.Any top 4 D man will cost you a ton... #4 guys are going to be getting offers north of $5 million. The top pairing guys are going to get $8 million per, on long term deals. All of our players under contract will start looking like pretty good value,

LuongovsTuuka
He had a good season last year and this year has been a mess from top to bottom with the Canucks. I agree he's been brutal, but Edler is worse. It's giving me Nordmark flashbacks.

The D-men would then be worth more in trades etc. if Gillis decides to trade 1 or 2 of them.

Ghostsof1915
Trade bait if you can get past his NTC? If we can move Garrison and Edler we might get a more solid defence. It would be interesting next year if its: Hamhuis Bieksa Stanton Tanev Hutton Corrado

ThatPope
Why buy him out? He's leading the Canucks D in scoring by 8 points with 32. If this team even had a semi decent power play he could easily be at 40+ points. Sure he's -5 but on a team that is collectively -22 on goal differential -5 isn't that bad. Just look at Edler (-32). Warhippy
Is this serious? Can we not just buyout some of the fan base instead and make them cheer for other teams? Garrison is ok, in 2 years his contract will look like a steal. He leads the D core in points doesn't he? His only serious knock is he isn't aggressive enough and that booming shot isn't on target enough. Big deal....would you rather rush out after a buyout and get Phanuef 2.0? Honestly...why is it this teams fans always seek out a new whipping boy every week?

chrisbanks
it would be nice if we had a man or 2 on D that other players were a little scared to go into the corners with , we got to have one of the softest group of D men in the league. that goes to this whole garrison point...hes 6'2" 210lbs .... hes on pace for 62 hits in a full 82 games....
