Well, we kind of knew the stellar pitching wouldn’t last.

Came across this article that gives a possible reason for Vlady's early struggles. It's an eye opener to say the least:

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/news/ridiculous-stat-suggests-cause-for-vlad-jrs-early-struggles-in-mlb/ar-AAB4cim?li=AAggNb9

The Blue Jays' young phenom Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has not gotten off to the start everyone hoped, as he is batting just .152 so far since being called up to the big leagues.

However, the cause for his struggles might have more to do with the pitchers he is facing than his inability to transition.

View image on Twitter
View image on TwitterVlad Jr. rarely sees any pitches over the heart of the plate and he is fighting off extremely tough pitches every time he is up to bat.In fact, pitchers are avoiding throwing over the plate to the 20-year-old at a historic rate. He's dead last among all qualified batters over the past three seasons in percentage of pitches thrown over the heart of the plate. Unreal, another night for Vlad Jr.
View image on TwitterIn the last 3 seasons there have been 1516 batter seasons where the batter saw at least 150 pitches. Vlad Jr ranks 1516th for % pitches seen over the heart of the plate at 14.3% (23 of 161 after tonight) - the next lowest is 17.5%.
Pitchers are afraid of the raw power that Vlad Jr. possesses, and they become extremely cautious when he is up to the plate. He has been searching for that one mistake to show off his raw power, but according to the stats, he legitimately has had no chance. Opposing pitchers cannot keep this accuracy up forever, and when a pitcher misses location Vlad Jr. will be ready to put the ball into orbit. But until then the youngster will have to express patience at the plate and wait for his time to come, which is an incredibly difficult task for a young ball player looking to leave his mark on the league. Patience is a virtue, Vladdy.

Since it's been a dismal week for Blue Jays fans, I thought a bit of humor might lighten the load....

The Boston Red Sox are due to visit the White House, in keeping with the tradition of visits by championship teams. However, because of Donald Trump's policies, (particularly those about race) several members of the team have declined the invitation. Not surprisingly, most of them are players of color, including David Price, Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Sandy Leon, Jackie Bradley Jr, Rafael Devers, Hector Velasquez and Christian Vazquez. Manager Alex Cora, a Puerto Rican, is also not planning to attend.

It prompted this comment from Boston sports columnist Steve Buckley:

Quote

"Alex Cora has confirmed newspaper report he will not make the trip to meet the president. So basically it's the white Sox who'll be going,"

I'm sure Trump can come to some kind of a trade agreement maybe... :towel:

Vlad Jr. named AL Player of the Week after power surge

https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1775180

Is it sad, that after thinking "Congrats Vladdy" my second thought was "huh, must've been a slow week in the AL".

Good to see Vladdy getting success.  I forgot sometimes he's 20 and shouldn't be expected to put up all-star vet numbers right away.

"

.333/.417/.905 with four homers and nine RBIs over a six-game span, which began with a two-homer day against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

Guerrero is the youngest Blue Jay in history to win Player of the Week honors."

The future is looking better and better.

He started off slow, and was just adjusting to major league pitching that was all, now he's comfortable and he's adjusted and the numbers are starting to show, and he's only going to get better :bigblush:

Vlad with a big infield D play, catching a pop up just before the ball hit the turf.

bases loaded with only 1 out in extras and you can't score the run.  That's going to come back and bite them.  Gotta knock the Red Sox out when they're down.
