Piggy Bank
Defense, 5'8 and weighs 186 notes: -BC BOY -Would drive from Kamloops every practice and game to Vancouver to play for the Vancouver Thunderbirds. Very good ppg for an injured season as a small defender. Torey Krug is only an inch taller and has great success. The kid is a bit of a monster and has so much desire, work ethic, and leadership. My brother also played with him on Thunderbirds. 6 goals 18 assists, +25 and 24 points in 36 games
Tanev
That size without elite offensive numbers in a lower tier Junior league is not promising, but hey if we hire Feaster maybe he'll be our 1st round pick this year.
The Stork
That size without elite offe nsive numbers in a lower tier Junior league is not promising, but hey if we hire Feaster maybe he'll be our 1st round pick this year. Nah Feaster can't pull the trigger on anything if he was the GM he'd trade Sedins for a bunch of picks

elvis15
I wouldn't draft anyone who would drive 4 hours each way to practice and play games. He has to be smart enough to make better use of his time, or find a way to live in the Lower Mainland rather than make that commute. But as far as his hockey ability and size, it's already been said. oldnews
I like Hicketts. HIs ability to carry the puck and Brown's big shot have brought some balance to the Royals blueline with their puck moving and scoring punch. Hicketts is only 18 as well, so his numbers on a defensive, low scoring team like Victoria are pretty good. He's second only to Magee's +30 at +25. Like Magee, he may be overlooked because of his size but he's definitely one of the reasons the Royals have improved so much this year - no "stars", but a lot of solid players, good team defense, and solid goaltending. chickenman92
He's a real nice kid. Had a chance to chat with him and did this story on him for HockeyNow Ready To Roar By Ian Esplen on February 28, 2014 (0) Like After Missing Half The Season, Hicketts Hopes To Help Victoria Go On A Long Run For some kids, playing hockey is just a game. For Joe Hicketts, hockey has always been more of a passion than a game. The Victoria Royals talented defenceman's love for the game began on the outdoor rink in the park behind his Kamloops, B.C. home. “My earliest memories were just getting home from school and racing down to the outdoor rink,” Hicketts said. “I remember being out there 10 or 11 hours a day during the winter break and my mom bringing me lunch and hot chocolate just so that I would take a bit of a break.” And all that time on the ice and hard work paid off for Hicketts, as he worked his way to become HockeyNow's player of the year in 2011 and then to the blueline of the Victoria Royals. In his rookie season, Hicketts was widely considered one of the best 16-year-old defencemen in the WHL, collecting six goals and 24 points. Because of his success in 2012-13, many had high hopes for Hicketts this season. Hicketts started off the season strong, with some predicting him to go high in the NHL draft because of his strong play. Then, on Oct. 26, 2013, he would suffer an upper body injury in a game against the Kelowna Rockets. The injury would keep him sidelined until Jan. 31, 2014. Because of the injury, Hicketts slipped in a lot of scouts’ eyes to the point where he was left off of a lot of mid-season rankings — mainly due to a lack of exposure to scouts. “It's not really the first thing on my mind,” Hicketts said in response to being asked about whether his lack of being ranked would serve as motivation the rest of the season. “My first thing is helping this team win because teams that have playoff success tend to have more NHL draft picks on them,” Hicketts added. “Going forward, a long playoff run is what I'm focused on.” Since returning to the Royals lineup, Hicketts has scored nine points in eight game but more importantly, the Royals haven't lost in regulation. As long as Hicketts is in the lineup, look for the Royals to make that long playoff run that Hicketts was hoping for. - See more at: http://hockeynow.ca/major-junior/ready-to-roar#sthash.hCcZxVX4.dpuf

Rush17
Isn't he on the royals now or is that another hicketts? My question is answered by reading 2 posts above lol.
McBackup
He's a very good player. I've seen him play at the Royals game and he has all the skills to be an NHL defenseman. However unless the super soldier serum in Captain America actually exists he won't be going anywhere. Just too small I'm afraid.
susraiders
His size will limit him so I doubt he gets drafted.
