SamJamIam
Yes, he's practically Eric Lindros out there. What in the bloody fool hell are you blabbering on about here? Forgive me if I've become tired of arguing with someone who can't follow simple statements like "lack of vision hurts NHL production".
Darkstar
If the Canucks want Virtanen they should trade down to 9-10. He won't go before that.
CanuckFan1981
I live in Calgary, albeit don't watch the Hitmen much... But the guys here that do watch them all rave about him. They say his numbers do not show what a special player he is. I would be quite happy to get this guy. I agree with everyone who says he has a lot of the things you can't teach, which are coincidentally things are team will need moving forward with our rebuild. (yep, I used the R word.) AFrame14
Im not gonna lie I don't know much about the top prospects aside from ekblad, Reinhardt, and Bennett. But u got me convinced op. Haha sounds like a beast who can skate fast and put the puck in the net. Plus if he's from Bc then that is a bonus. Seems like everyone agrees he is a good player but taking him at 6 would be too soon. Isn't the talent drop off after the top 5 in this draft!? I say take the local kid

hlinkas wrister
as of this day I thought Virtanen was a Europeen, a Finn more precisely LOL. guess I dropped the ball on that one. Not unless Abbotsford is a Finnish colony. Dual Canadian and Finnish citizen, his father was born there
250Integra
If none of the top 5 falls to us, we better get either Virtanen, Nylander, Ehlers, Perlini, or Ritchie.
CANUCK-EXPRESS
I'll take draisailt, dal colle or Ritchie before virtanen. But I wouldn't mind virtanen
Absent Canuck
Convinced I watched the highlights. The kid is very strong on his skates. His shot is good -not great. His IQ is normal. His skills are bullying his way to the net and cutting around the outside. His skating is average. He reminds me of Steve Bernier. A guy who had the full package in junior but could never elevate his game 2 steps at the NHL level and became a grinder. Unless he figures out how to grow to 6ft 5 and 250 pounds, he will not have the same physical advantages at the NHL level that afford him his glory in junior. oldnews
DO NOT EVER EVER LISTEN TO CRAIG BUTTON. He has no idea what he is talking about. Guys like bob mckenzie and iss and central scouting always have players within a few picks of eachother , and then fracken craig has a guy outside the top 50 . He always goes against the consenus and is ALWAYS wrong I think Button just predicted the Nucks taking Virtanen 6th overall.

The Stork
Please be Dal Colle I don't see any pieces Virtanen has that will make us a cup contender. I won't be surprised if Canucks go off the board with their pick but at the same time if Dal Colle, Draisaitl or Bennett drops at 6 we should grab them
Angry Goose
I like Virtanen. Give him a bunch of years to mature physically and this guy will be a proto-corry perry. Pair him up with Shinkaruk/Horvat and that is one heck of a line!

I'd say he's fastest next to Ehlers. His shot is a better than "good". He's 6'1 210 lbs at 18, he won't need to put on a whole lot of weight to be effective physically. The only reason why I wouldn't take him at 6 is because there's a possibility he becomes a David Booth. He has all the tools but lacks the iq to be truly effective with his tools. Merci
I doubt the top5 will fall. Between Ritchie and Virtanen I'd have a really tough time deciding. Would probably draft Ritchie and trade Kesler for Etem and the 10th overall for a chance at Perlini or Virtanen. Virtanen is super young with an August birthday, he's played against 18/19 year olds as a young 17 yr old all year Etem, Ritchie, Virtanen, Horvat, Gaunce, Shinkaruk, Fox, Cassels Hmm seems we're kind of getting set
