ISS/CS Draft Rankings - 2014 NHL Entry Draft

Everyone seems to keep referring to Bob Mckenzie’s and Craig Button’s draft rankings, but why? They are two people who definitely have not been around and have not watched all these players. Everyone is just jumping to conclusions using these rankings from two people who speculate from behind a desk all day. If there are any rankings to follow they are from CS (Central Scouting) and ISS (International Scouting Services). These companies get evaluations from scouts across the world and together they see everyone compete and play. And we all know no one on here is a scout so keep in mind these will be the most accurate drafting orders straight from the scouts. Most of you have Ehlers, Virtanen, and Ritchie around the 6th/7th pick but as you will see below, Draisaitl and Nylander will be in our range and a player like Bennet or Dal Colle may slip depending on the needs of other teams.

I will be updating the rankings as the ISS updates their rankings monthly and I will be updating the CS ranking if they also revise their choices.

Keep in consideration that the rankings can change drastically if players under-perform in the playoffs and also if some players sustain injuries that NHL teams get concerned about. The combine is coming up soon and this can drastically affect a players projected draft position also.

Nylander at 5? Lets hope we get him then. I don't follow the Rooks to be I kind of just jump on some hype trains mixed in with cool sounding player names. Still hope we get Virtanen.

Lol wish nux would hire u as a scout!

All jokes aside I am surprised u are on the nylander train, lot of guys on here do not like him!

Bob McKenzie's rankings aren't what he thinks. He polls a number of scouts and then ranks the prospects based on what the scouts said. I think he polled 16 different scouts this year from different teams.

EDIT: Just looked it up. It's 12 NHL team scouts.

Give me a Canadian kid that can go to the tough areas and put the fucking puck in the net. That's what this team is sorely missing. The last thing we need is another player that plays the perimeter in a cycling fashion(our PP speaks for itself on that topic)

So would you take Draistl (German kid) or Ritchie (good Canadian boy) if it came to that?

I don't get how people listen to Craig Button. He makes Sportsnet's panel look credible.

As recently as January, the guy ranked McCann and Kempe in the top 10 (contrary to many). Hell, the nutjob put Draisaitl at 11 for Pete's sake!

Ritchie without a doubt. I know I don't want kapinen or Nylander, they seem way to over-rated. Ritchie reminds me of Bertuzzi and I see Drasaitl as having a great successful season but wonder if he's a one hit wonder. If there's a way to grab Bennett, Reinhart, Dal Colle I say we have to seize it(as long as it doesn't cost Horvat or Shink)

I've heard some good things about him. Of course I hear a lot of things it's just filtering out the crap and over exaggerations that's hard. Like Snypers unusual love for Ehlers.

I want Virtanen but if 6 is too high for him the BPA is fine. BC players are paying off nicely for us, so anyone from around here is what interests me. If Nylander plays a solid two way game and gives us the best chance at playoffs one day I don't care if he's from BC, USA, Narnia or Tatooine. Get em a Jersey.

Aquire Ottawas pick for Kesler from Anaheim and come away with two of Ritchie/Virtanen/Tuch.we have been wanting to get a big top six forever so let's stick to our plan.Chances are we don't snap back in a single summer and can aquire a high scoring centreman in next years draft.Bo the future leader would look good surrounded by 500lbs of winger.

Haha funny, and I agree. Its nice to see home town boys, but when its all said and done we need the best possible player that can contribute most to our future and realistically gives us somewhere to build around and make a cup run.

Van picks 6th Draisaitl ranked 6th, and still other good prospects ahead and behind that rank. I think its safe to say we will draft a real good young player. Whether he develops into a star cant be determined now. No matter what we will get a talented kid and then its up to us to help him become the player we will need.

Still, I would love if Draisaitl went to us at 6 overall, Virtanen looks good and is homegrown. Ritchie, Dal Colle Bennet, Reinhart, Nylander, Ehlers and others would all be good picks if yu put personal preference behind. I just hope whoever we pick turns out to be a real keeper.
