From.The.Point
I'm going to start this thread of by saying im not going to get into which players to pick/select but rather just a general thought on what Linden/new GM might have planned. Reading over most of the trade proposals and who to select the common theme seems to be getting one of the top5. So, what if one of them does fall to us at 6. We now have one of, if not our 2nd best prospect. Do we now trade Kesler to try to acquire another first round pick(s) and prospect(s). The potential to have a solid top9 prospect pool with last years and this years draft realistically exists. Especially if that trade is one that has been suggested time and time again with Anaheim and their picks. Just a quick recap; -Keep the 6th and hope one of the top5 fall to us -Execute a Kesler trade to acquire more prospects/assests -Top9 rebuilt within 2years
Brendan Gaunce
If Van trades up only makes sense to get the 1st or 2nd. Doubt Florida will give away when they need Ekblad though..
Angry Goose
I really hope VAN can swing a Kesler trade with ANH and grab their 10th, hopefully picking up Virtanen and BPA at #6.

Then, I agree with Kola Nuts, we should try to execute a trade with Anaheim to get a couple draft picks, including their 10th.
From.The.Point
The future lines would be something to look foward to if you include present and possibly future picks/assets from a possible Kesler trade In no particular line combo/order Shinkaruk - Horvat - Kassian 6th overall pick - 2nd line center (kes trade) - Jensen Fox - Cassels - BPA 10th overall
katzenjammer
Kesler to Anaheim? ... why not to TO, for let's say Gauthier and this years 1st, they'll be picking higher than the Ducks, right? ... this seems like value both ways. Also the definite possibility that Florida is going to pic Ekblad ( the only top ten prospect who could help the Oilers at all ) makes the likes of Edler extremely valuable to Edmonton. Trading for the Oiler's 1st gets us a shot at Reinhart, and doesn't the prospect of drafting a couple of BC boys, Reinhart and Virtanen, both of whom seem like perfect fits, make a lot of sense? Then use the TO pic to grab Ehlers and suddenly the Canucks are as deep on the left wing as they are on the right and at centre. More over the further benefit of trading veterans for pics and prospects will create a favourable draft lottery environment for 2015, as in say hello McDavid.... and then cup run for 2017 .... The Oilers have Marincin, Nurse, Schultz and Klefbom. They're on looking good right now. Some center depth is just as important as another defenseman. FlyLow_
Why does everyone forget Kesler gave a list of teams, Anaheim wasn't one of them. Neither was T.O. or Edmonton. It's Pitt, Detroit, Philly, Chicago if I remember correctly..

If Couturier isn't a centre piece to that deal I say hell no.
