How good can Jordan Subban be?

What you think is his potential and how close could he come to being as good as PK? I think he could be a very good mobile, offensive defenseman.

The knock on him his size, but I think it's not that big of an issue. Just watching some of his highlights, he has very good puck moving abilities, speed and skills to make plays and put up points. A similar player who is a smaller guy for a defenseman but had a very good career he reminds me of is Brian Rafalski. Not saying he will be Rafalski, but shows a guy in similar build and abilities can be a great player.

I think if he keeps improving, he could be given a chance on the team in the next few years.

The thing about highlight videos are that they are just that, highlights.

You don't get the bad with the good.

He gets easily out muscled in the defensive zone, where those board battles are extremely important.

His size is definitely holding him back.

That being said, he has great offensive instincts and great wheels. Much more cerebral than PK.

Just gotta hope he grows a few inches.

If he learns to play a smart physical brand of Defensive hockey he will be successful.

It's all about how well he can play D though. His Offensive instincts will get him into the NHL, but he can be a solid contributor if he figures out how to play good D as an undersized guy, who is probably stronger and faster than his opponents.

Ryan Ellis/Torey Krug type is his ceiling and what I'm assuming most would really hope for.

In reality, so hard to tell at this point.

Just watched the highlight video...wow, he really does play like his brother.

he's black & athletic he'll be a star

So he's Lamarcus Aldrige in the playoffs?

Jordan Subban has a sick shot, can move the puck and a highly offensive defensemen. I think his size is the only thing holding him back and once he gets size he can be physically effective.

Don't kid yourself, he'll never be good defensively with his size. He needs to counter it, with his offensive ability, and help with the transition game. The majority of the puck movers in the NHL are high risk players, and teams expect it, but no one will say a thing if the player can put up numbers. With the New NHL, it's about skating, and if he turns into anything like MA Bergeron, than he'll find a team that will want him to run the PP.

Ryan Ellis and Torey Krug are completely different players....

one can skate, the other one can't.

Hopefully he'll become a top 6 pp specialist dman for us.

During the scrimmages last year you could see how skilled he was.

I especially remember when he faked a pass back to the dman behind him with hisbackhand and quickly brought the puck back to his forehand to slow down Burrows' forecheck, which was risky but nevertheless impressive.

However, he tried to do too much on his own in the d zone at times(ie. Giveaway behind the net against Kesler), but was still a lot better than I expected.
