guntrix
Why dont we trade up to make sure Ritchie is still there when our turn comes. No point in taking a chance. Trade up to take Ritchie? Now I've seen it all.
messier's_elbow
I wouldnt trade up. Ritchie is just who I like most at 6th spot. If one of the other top 5 fall, or we scouted Ehlers or Virtanen a ton and figure them a cant miss id be ok with that. Ritchie just seems like a bit better prospect then the other 3 or 4 guys after the top 5 to me. Big body guy with hands and vision. Having quick acceleration is always nice to have especially for a guy his size. He could look great with Horvat and Kassian on a line, in a year or two. EV604
This guy could be a potential 3-4th line checker, can't draft a guy like this 6th overall. He's got Alex Stonanov written all over him

He's got Alex Stonanov written all over him Some scouts may disagree, some may think he has the carriage of a NHLer right now NHL Prospect Hot List: When Ritchie goes into beast mode, it’s tough to stop the young winger. At 6-foot-3 and 229 pounds, he’s got the carriage to be an NHLer right now, but the Petes are happy he’s still with them. The power forward had two goals and a helper in Peterborough’s shocking come-from-behind Game 6 win over Kingston, a game in which the Petes trailed 3-0 before Ritchie got the 5-4 comeback started. Same height, feather weight, highly skilled, Filatov was competing to get drafted number 1. Trade up to take Ritchie? Now I've seen it all. You've seen nothing yet. The ones with the Ehlers erections said he's a mix of Markus Naslund and Pavel Bure. Bring it on. sick and tired of the Ritchie Nay Sayers talking out of their ass. Absent Canuck
Yeah, the most I have seen Kass lose a battle along the boards in a game was three times... But that was in the preseason against Edmonton, where he was still a few steps behind.no need for the shot at the end though. Perhaps you would like to re visit the comment he made in the first place.

They arent anything alike other than how tall and how much they weigh. Their personalities and approach to the guy are polar opposites. You cant just pick out a bust player and claim the guy is like that just because its what you want to believe. The ironic thing about your post is you go on to claim the Ritchie 'naysayers' are doing.............exactly what you just did in your post. He is a power winger who would excel af forechecking. Unfortunately, he does not play consistently. His focus wanders . He can work on that to improve his intensity. However, the NHL is getting faster. The game is increasingly about speed and skill. It believe its a mistake to draft a player who is primarily touted for his size in the top 10. Guys like Draisaitl and Dal Colle have size, but can also score at an elite level .These are the size guys you want to pursue.

Nick Ritchie, LW, Peterborough Petes (OHL) Claus Andersen/Getty Images Nick Ritchie The Stats: 61GP, 39-35-74 with Peterborough Petes (OHL) The Story: Mike Davies of the Peterborough Examiner tell us about Ritchie's talents and quotes Dallas Stars scout J.J. Johnson on Ritchie. Johnston says Ritchie has all the tools for the pro game. What Makes Him Special? Ritchie is one of the best power-forward prospects in the draft. Dan Stewart, scouting director for future considerations, tells the story to OHL Prospects: I have been to games this season where he looks like the undisputed top prospect for this draft. A real bull in a china shop who can force his will on anyone physically as well as possessing the offensive skills to singlehandedly dominate the game and carry the Petes to victory, and then some games where he looks disinterested and played like a real dog. Partly due to improved health but lately his contributions and efforts have been more consistent which has his stock rising. Think physical dominance like Milan Lucic but with better offensive abilities (shot, hands, sense). Share Tweet 18 Comments

Nikolaj Ehlers, LW, Halifax Mooseheads Derek Leung/Getty Images Nikolaj Ehlers The Stats: 63GP, 49-55-104 with Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) The Story: Ehlers may be the most exciting offensive player in the draft. His numbers are among the best in this group, and his style points are spectacular. He is an impact offensive prospect. What Makes Him Special? Ehlers is quick, intelligent and creative. Ryan Kennedy from the Hockey News puts it this way: An incredibly skilled forward, Ehlers makes plays at high speeds and doesn’t mind going to the tough areas in order to score. Scouts see him as an excellent complementary player and have even hesitantly brought up teammate Jonathan Drouin as a comparable, as lofty as that sounds. I really do not care who we take, thought it was funny you used this article to try and prove something about Ritchie when that writer has Ehlers higher on his list. theminister
Since I was asked…. though not too politely…. Conclusion: Ritchie has little difference in level of production regardless of the quality of competition. Goals Vs Top 6 Teams ( Guelph, Erie, London, Sault Ste Marie, Oshawa, Kingston) = 14 Goals Vs Bottom 6 Teams ( Sarnia, Kitchener, Ottawa, Belleville, Mississauga, Niagara) = 16 2013-09-19 KGN@PBO 2. sims
Adrian Kempe will be more productive than Ritchie or Virtanen. Kempe is only 17 yet playing against men, Kempe's transition to the NHL will be quicker than these two, he may very well be the best all round p.f in this draft, but I still wouldn't take him at
