[Offical] Kesler traded to Anaheim

I disagree. I think we will get Etem, the 10th and the 24th or next years first from the Ducks or another team makes a better offer.

Anaheim has not put the 10th overall back in the offer for Kesler and if the 10th overall isn't in that deal I can pretty much tell you that Etem is not in that deal.

A good negotiator who really knew what he was doing would have leveraged them to that point by now,

We all know it's a card game, but this this the 11th hour and Benning hasn't manipulated the Hawks into showing their TT hand yet?

Murry and Bowman seem to have Benning at a disadvantage at the moment, it should be the other way round.

I suspect those two are in collusion to keep the Kesler price low.

As much as it pains me to say it, if Benning is currently being played he should pull Kesler from the market, call those two up and say "You're offers suck, we're keeping him, go get Spezza, it's over." I think Bowman and Murry would change their tune pretty quick.

1st rule of negotiation: ALWAYS be ready to walk away...

11th Hour isn't until Friday 4PM Pacific time. We're sitting somewhere around the 8:43 hour right now.

The 1st rule of negotiation is exactly what is going on right now and will continue to go on right up until sometime Friday!

"Leaking" information and getting fans excited or angry is also a negotiating tactic!

This is far from over, will be completely shocked if it ends before Friday noon.

If we deal with hawks, TT has to be included if not I would stop talking to Hawks. Theres rumours out there it's going to be Sharp+TT etc and our option is to package Sharp to another team for young prospects

. The other one with Ducks is Ducks getting 5th pick from Isles for Silferberg and trading Kerdiles+5th to Canucks for Kesler. Canucks would draft at 5th and 6th but highly doubt were risking the 5th and 6th with Ritchie or Virtanen as rumoured cuz that wouldn't be smart.

Unless the Hawks intend to use TT on the wing, they have nowhere for him with Toews, Kesler, and Sharp down the middle. Btw, I hope all those eager for him are not the same ones saying not to draft Nylander or Ehlers because "we need size".

Pretty unlikely the Canucks would draft both 5th and 6th, as they'd almost surely flip one for the #1 or 2. If Edmonton were to pass on Draisaitl he will probably be there for the Canucks, so they could even use the top pick for Ekblad. More likely we'd see Reinhart and Dal Colle -- no problem with that!

Ekblad and Draisaitl

or

Reinhart and Dal Colle

...but only if Horvat and Shinkaruk are still Canucks, of course ;)

please note that offers change over time. you gotta believe that the ducks and hawks are going to continue to play hardball up until thursday night or at the draft. people need to calm down i highly doubt these two have pitched their final best offer yet.

Luongo said he would go to any team and not only that but there was a lock out and no GM's wanted to make a trade for Luongo until the new CBA was made and once it was made with the lowered cap no one wanted Luongo. Not only that but Luongo's issue was playing time he wanted to be the starter and Vancouver decided to go with Schneider.

The issue with Kesler is not playing time its that he doesn't want to play on a team unless it has a high probability of winning the Stanley Cup which is total BS.

Luongo never once stated who he would or wouldn't go to. It was widely speculated that he wanted to go to Florida. Past that, I challenge you to find me any actual, verifiable quote on where he said he would go!

You keep throwing out complete speculation as fact!

I'd like to know where you are getting your info from... You state things like you are some insider or are in the room and know exactly whats going on.... no one knows for sure what the deals offered arre except those involved.... like someone else said, the rest is speculation,,,, your opinions included.

My point exactly! Peaches is making up statements and quotes on the fly from everything we're seeing!

From Friedman's 30 thoughts

6. Interesting scenario of the week: Will the Canucks and Kesler work towards a three-way deal that gets Kesler where he wants to go if Vancouver can't find a match with one of his preferred destinations?

7. Islanders GM Garth Snow is on record telling Newsday's Arthur Staple that he will give up the fifth selection for a player who can help them win now. Other teams are more in "stealth mode," and one is definitely Toronto. Dave Nonis is like a baseball GM, throwing 25 players on the waiver wire to hide the one he really wants to move.

Kesler to Chicago

Sharp to NYI

5th pick to Van

those would be the main pieces. add in picks/prospects.

getting Dal Colle with the 5th would make me more willing to give up Shinakruk+6th to get 1st overall.

People on here are so frenzied for the Canucks to make a deal. New player needs to be able to slot into the second line immediately and contribute 20-30 goals a season just to maintain the status quo. And we would still need to find another top tier second line player to balance out the Canucks' lines.

Speaking of frenzied, what's the hurry for a second line player and such production? Creating a contender by next Spring is NOT the objective here. There's no raging fire anywhere.

A good negotiator who really knew what he was doing would have leveraged them to that point by now,

...if Benning is currently being played...

Please -- don't start up with the hand-wringing and sobbing despair again :sadno:

So I just wanna go on record as saying the two above offers from Chicago or Anaheim are good enough. Looking into these prospects more, they seem pretty mediocre.

Anaheim needs to offer up either Etem, Vatanen, or a solid roster player if they want Kesler.

Same with Chicago.

TT or Saad.

Anything else and Vancouver loses the trade.
