Working at river rock casino as dealer

KASSIAN2013

Recommended Posts

Hi, guys. I'm just curious, what's it like working as a dealer for the River Rock Casino? Does anyone on this site work for them, or do you have any friends or family that works for them?

More specifically, how's the pay (including tips)?

I would be grateful for any information.

Translated that into English for you.

Card dealing positions are not as easy as you think. You have to be quite precise and are constantly watched by both the players and floor managers. To work in a casino you will need to acquire a GPEB as well. This will include a criminal record check and some background information checking.

The tips obviously will depend on the players that are at your table. If you (the house) is taking all of their money... no tips.. If players are winning big.. then they usually throw some your way.

The pay is usually in the $13-17/hour range depending on your experience.

Tips dont matter on any given table because the dealing staff pools their tips. You get your cut based on experience and hours worked. For GCC, you wont get a full tip share until you are done probation (3 months).

I worked at a casino for a few years, not as a dealer, however; the things you must prepare for are :

* Long nights/Graveyards - This is the single biggest reason for dealers to quit

* Asshole patrons - Especially at River Rock, you will be dealing with a 90% Asian population, and when gambling, they are not the nicest people to deal with. This is highlighted even more at RiverRock because that is viewed as where the hardcore gamblers go in the lower mainland.

*Drunks, lots are over-served, which causes lots of fun for dealers and security.

If you can handle that stuff, and once you're done probation you will be making anywhere from 15-20$/Hr based on tips, which isnt horrible money, and GCC has a great Benefits/Profit Sharing/Pension plan. The company itself is a joy to work for.
