While people seem to assume Booth is going to be bought out, he's not the only terrible contract that Gillis has stuck the team with:

Booth - He's been pretty invisible for his time as a Canuck, but only has 1 year left on his contract. He also played better down the stretch last year. Unlikely to find a trade market

Edler - He's been the worst defenseman on the team 2 years in row, and at -39 his struggles can't solely be blamed on others. Unless he dramatically improves his defense, he's a massive liability for this team going forward. Rumoured to be unwilling to waive NTC

Garrison - Didn't live up to expectations last year, and considered overpaid by many. Local player who took less to come to Vancouver, so unlikely to waive NTC

Burrows - Had a brutal season last year, plagued by injuries. His contract makes him very overpaid if he doesn't rebound, and his trade value is hampered by the perception that his stats are inflated by the twins.

D. Sedin - Has never been the same since he was assaulted by Duncan Keith. Entering a new contract that pays him 1st line money, but is unlikely to bounce back. Almost impossible to trade, but Linden would take a lot of heat for buying him out.

Personally, I think Edler absolutely has to go. Not only does his defensive play cost the team games, but it sets a terrible example for our younger players when the coach allows him to play how he does in his own zone. Add in the high price tag and it's a nasty combination.

Who do you guys want to see bought out if we use our buyout (assuming for the purpose of discussion that none of these guys can be traded)?

He's not going anywhere soon, especially when Linden says he won't ask him to waive his NTC. I'm guessing it will be between Garrison and Booth.

Save the buyout for next year and evaluate whether or not burrows needs to be bought out...

So no one gets bought out this year

It's now or never under the CBA

Lol Daniel Sedin. If we buyout Daniel, Henrik wil probably leave too

Well that's the idea. If we're going for a full tank/rebuild, that's how to do it. For the record, I would be strongly against this option.

booths in the last year of his contract. why reward him for being so terrible he can ride the pine fill in where needed play on the fourth line waive him send him to the minors . the only way he should be bought out is if benning needs the cap space now for ufa's ect.. but i don't see them needing it so and being a contract year you know booth is going to want to have a good season so he still has a job next year he might even be worth a fifth rounder as a rental at the trade deadline so i wouldn't use the buyout everyone else is tradable but even before doing that they see what a new coach can get out these guys its no mystery that most of these guys had there worst season ever under torts (no coincidence) hard to judge players after last season disaster.

Okay first off why would the Canucks buy out Edler, Burrows or Garrison? They have NTC's not NMC you would waive them first and if they and when they get claimed you no longer have to pay for a buyout. The buy out is for players that have terrible contracts and no one wants them Ex. Luongo's contract or for players with NMC which only Daniel Sedin has but you would be a complete moron of a GM to buy him out.
