What about Burrows?

I dont feel age has anything to do with it at all...Burr could have an outstanding year.....but lets get real..does he deserve a NTC....nope..teams should be able to play the best players at anyone position..Burr doesnt look so good lately..time to move on and get some new energy...I have always liked Burrows,, but I am tired of seeing him on the 1st and 2nd line..he shouldnt be there.....I said he is a solid 3rd liner...what more do you want?

I agree with you here, bone head MG passed out way to many NTCs and over paid bur but he only looked bad one season????? Get a grip there is no way we should trade bur now with or without a no trade clause. The team started it's fall from grace around when we got zack, is he the one that should be traded shaky?

The team needs a shake up but I'd stop short of passing on our hardest working player on the team, trading kesler and establishing an second line is the shakeup we need. But may drop to the second line if we find a player that fits better with the twins but as of now that player in not part of the team (Jensen in a few years?). You want to put a floater in his place just because he has more size even though he doesn't use it? I'm not trying to bash kass here he is starting to show some upside but his work ethic is still no place close to a top six player, give him a few years to earn his stripes. The match ups in the top six would kill him in the defensive zone and drag the line down. I find you kind of insane wanting to dump one of our best players because he had ONE off year, if he has another off year we can talk a little more till then zip it.

Dont tell me to zip it ..who the hell are you..lol ..here you go with your incessant Kassian bashing calling him a floater, you are a one trick pony,, frakin know it all.

Burrows does have good trade value, his you off year after having 5 consecutive good years will not hurt his value as much as people think. IF we keep him and he has another off year, his value will then drop, but not after one bad year filled with injuries and a overall team decline.

We'd still get a good return on him

Would he waive to WPG? Closer to family, (he'd have earlier games for family could watch more often). If I remember correctly he's played there a couple season's with the moose, maybe he enjoyed his time there. He still gets to play in canada.

It's not that I'm bashing him just saying he needs more time with less pressure to develop his game, he still has a number of holes that need to be addressed. Torts did a great job with him and at the end of the season we finally started to see a light go on. He is still far from a top six player and only a homer that thinks he should get a free ride to the top six replacing one of our most consistent and hardest working player on the team after only one off season would think its bashing.

actually it was Gulutzen that did all the work with Kass ..and Kass gives him credit..probably one of the reasons he was kept.. not saying Burrows is an anchor,,Im saying he should be traded or he is 3rd line..and whats wrong with that?

Oh.. I probably am a homer..I want the best for this team..but obviously it all goes through you.

I didn't know it was anything to do with gulutzen nice to know. If you wanted what was best for the team you'd want to see bur come back next year, you just want room for your man crush.

This is 100% untrue. Ever seen him in front of the net? That's nothing to do with "timing", he battles hard there and gets crosschecked and hammered but stands in there. Watch closer.

And Burr, wasn't getting any of those interference, high-sticking or cross-checking calls, either...that's for sure!

I wonder if... now that we have a pseudo-insider like Benning at our helm...will the "winds of persecution" finally blow over for Burrows & his team? Is there anyone out there feeling even a tad guilty over the barage of mistreatments.... doled-out towards Burr, in particular? I think this will very much be a litmus-test year for Burr....to see if he can re-gain his "Mr. Clutch" status & usefulness to the team. His defensive help has always been solid. Hansen likewise. Those 2 just need to develop some more consistancy of play in the offensive zone,.. as do the twins, again.Time will tell.

And, why not sign Burr up for some skating lessons with the same gal who taught Hamhuis & Booth? His skating style is just so flailing & spastic,....is it any wonder - it has often given refs an easy excuse to confuse-it for embellishment, at times? Make some small effort to fix that and see what happens, too. Just sayin'....

Last year was hard on the top six as Hank was injured,Burr was injured and Dan was not the same winger most especially when his brother is barely able to lace up skates and Burr was not with the twins.

If Kes is traded we get one (1) top six player in return. One player can not replace an entire top NHL line.

The immediate challenge for new management is to replace Booth's salary with a legitimate top six fwd and find an offensive d man.

Goaltending is a question mark as are players like Jensen,Kassian,Burrows,Dank,Markstrom.....

Jensen and/or Kassian must move up and play a second line role or some body or bodies on the present roster will be used to create the second line's missing piece.

New management have difficult tasks in front of them but JB is a talent evaluator and that is what makes this off-season and coming season interesting.

He will get a grasp on the talent on hand and begin upgrading.in the attempt to improve the roster..

As a hockey fan that watched this team break down I find that task interesting and potentially exciting.

Or, more likely, because he's a workhorse who can be used in a variety of roles.

His work in front of the net and on the PK are invaluable and that versatility and willingness to do some of the dirty jobs is a huge asset. Then there's the fact that he can score, too (especially in clutch situations).

How about no.

My point exactly. Emotionally attached.

But that's a lot of money for a guy who can ONLY seem to go to the net now. Holmstrom did that for nearly league minimum.

If we are trying to make the playoffs this year (I'm hoping that we're tanking), then we should get rid of him. He's a 3rd liner at this point making $4m+. Most successful teams use younger players to fill out the 2nd and 3rd lines. Burrows really doesn't fit in anywhere. Sure, he had injuries and a bad coach, but he's not getting any younger (33 years old).

If we're tanking = keep him

I we're trying to make the playoffs = get rid of him

Burr can still be successful with the sedins. Guy just had 1 bad year and a freak load injuries playering under a mindless coach. He's still got a few good years in him. Guy just needs his confidence back. Scoring 20 + goals this year shouldn't be a problem for him this year given he's healthy
