-Vintage Canuck-
He’ll look to do it in Detroit, too: Daniel Alfredsson wants at least one more crack at winning the Stanley Cup. Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports Alfredsson has told the Detroit Red Wings he wants to play one more season. The two sides will reconvene this week to discuss a new contract. Alfredsson, 41, joined the Red Wings last summer on a one-year contract after he and the Ottawa Senators came to an impasse on a new contract. In 68 games, he had 18 goals and 49 points to tie for the team lead in points with defenseman Niklas Kronwall. In Detroit, Alfredsson appeared to find a comfort zone playing alongside fellow Swedes Kronwall, Henrik Zetterberg, Johan Franzen, Gustav Nyquist, and Jonathan Ericsson. While the Wings were crushed by injuries last season, Alfredsson was steady in production and provided leadership while Zetterberg dealt with a back injury that kept him out of action for the bulk of the second half. Moving to Detroit turned out to be the right move for Alfie as the Senators failed to make the playoffs. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/23/alfredsson-wants-to-play-one-more-season/

surtur
That's nice. Do any human beings want to pay money to watch him do this? if the wings or any other teams don't sign him i would give him a tryout contract for the preseason just to see how he does with the twins and then go from there but i doubt he would want to play a year on a semi rebuild team. sharnhayre
It will all depend on if the Wings can afford to have him back, if they want him back and if they rather go with someone younger in the system thats earned a shot.

WEVEGOTMOTTE
Will be interesting if he wants a cup I wonder what team would be the best fit for him. Chicago, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Boston?? He fit in pretty well with Detroit for a player over 40, not sure if Detroit is a true contender in the next couple of years.
-Vintage Canuck-
Daniel Alfredsson says he will hit the ice next week and depending on how his back will respond, he will decide about his future. Previously, Alfie has stated he will re-sign in Detroit for 1 more year or retire.
