Is Jake just physically not able to reach those goals, or is he not committed to reaching those goals.  If it's a weight goal, that on Jake.  However, if it's an aerobic goal, maybe Jake just can't physically reach that goal?  I'm really not sure which reason is the why he's not getting to the goals set?  If it's a physical limitation, then he's not got what it takes, just like none of us.  If it's a commitment issue then he can be rehabilitated, and still be a good play, but he's got commitment issues.  Ugh.

Got to wonder if Benning and Green have run out of patience with Jake. He's not a kid anymore and knows what is expected. I'm surprised at the reports that he's not in great shape, knowing that Ferland and Miller were coming in to challenge for spots. He's not a good interview, but tries to say the right things, like: I need to work on this and that, and I need to play this way, etc. But then he comes to camp unprepared. Frustrating player.

I am afraid he may need a change of scenery before he "gets it" if he ever does.  The rumors were he was always bigger and faster than his peers and got by on that and his skill but never really put the work in.  That won't work in the NHL.

I would think if he doesn't perform in camp, work his tail off and convince the Canucks he finally gets it he is gone.  The return won't be great at this point if this is the case.

Said it in the other thread and will say it here.

Copy and paste the whole quote not 1/2. What were the goals? How did he miss them? It is not simply fat of not fat.

Also, this is his contract year. If he is off then his contract stays low which is great for us as it will leave more money on the table for Petty etc...

Why worry about nothing.

We can only assume the GOAL was to be in shape (perhaps a certain weight range?). What else could it be?

I know it was fun last season, but the "shotgun Jake" moniker was probably a bad thing for Virtanen. It made him somewhat of a local celebrity, when he hasn't earned the praise yet. Maybe being relegated to Group C will deflate his ego a bit and hopefully he realizes he's already behind the regulars and needs to work harder than anyone. Hopefully.

Well I like finding stupid excuses to chug beer. So if not jake who’s the shotgun target this year?

Millers for miller?

booze for Hughes

....Or just take shots of vodka anytime goldy scores.
