difference being Benning, Linden & WD are much better team builders than those CGY predecessors.

That remains to be seen. We hope that's true, but we won't know that's true until there is a better sample size.

Some great hits, havent been able to see the assist. Its truly impressive how explosive his hitting can be. Sometimes it looks like he barely touches a guy, like the hit into the net tonight, and the player goes flying. Going to be fun to watch him grow!

Dynamic body checks that remind me of Lindros and how he would destroy guys.

A lot of similarities, I hope it translates to the nhl level.

I can certainly see the physical similarities, both are like runaway Mack trucks out there. Offensively there are no comparisons, Lindros was much, much more gifted.

Edit: Thanks for the link, that was fun!

Jake looking like a beast out there again. Ehlers who?

Nikolaj Ehlers. The guy likely to take Frolik's spot on the second line next season, playing alongside Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler.

Who said it would be on purpose? We very reasonably finished 6th-last a short time ago and now the Sedins are 2 years older.

:picard:

Retooling on the fly doesn't exist. What the team is doing is exactly what Calgary did years before. Waiting for the core to grow stale for years and then finally collapse. I would rather short circuit that process and accelerate the rebuild using good draft years. I am tired of watching this team fail, decade after decade.

It does when you have a core on long-term NTC and NMCs. The Sedins aren't going anywhere, they aren't going to trade Edler when he's just hitting his prime, and not going to just throw away Hamhuis, Bieksa, Hansen, Burrows, and Higgins for scraps. It's a transition, and will be accomplished primarily by the attrition of existing contracts -- Hamhuis and Bieksa being up this coming year, Higgins, Burrows, and Bonino the year after. This all notwithstanding them being moved before then.

Within two years the roster will be turned over by at least another 50%. Not a gutting and not a snail's pace, considering the 30% or so already done the past year.

There have been some dark times in Canucks history and bad teams that put zero effort into anything, 2013/2014 reminded me of those times. It was the first season in about 15 years I didn't watch the entire season, I didn't even make it through half of 2013/2014.

All I saw were a bunch of players play the most boring and uninspired hockey imaginable. I don't care if the team sucks and is rebuilding, retooling, whatever....but they damn well better try and have some youth and skill on ice. I will never waste my time watching garbage like the 2013/14 Canucks again.

Due mostly to injuries and the coaching, i.e. an aberration as borne out by this year's return to 100 points. You complain about one anomoly season (really, one half) -- how would you like to watch 10 years of garbage like the Oilers fans have been?

Fact is, you admittedly won't put up with losing thus you refute your own case against retooling and remaining competitive.

Don't count on it.

Obviously we disagree, and that's ok. I follow the Jets very closely and know that they are not re-signing Frolik, in large part because of this reason particularly. Ehlers is also too good to go back and play in the QMJHL next season. The Jets have a big team and Ehlers will be well protected and given plenty of room.

Anyway, glad Virtanen has been picking it up as of late. Never been a fan of his nor what appeared at the time to be Benning selecting Virtanen in large part because he's a local kid. Those were the optics of it anyway. But happy he's been playing better.
