[Draft] Vancouver drafts Nikita Tryamkin(D) with 66th overall

sticking with the draft rankings worked out for us well last year,

this year we could have had Mckeown and Glover - two d men projected much higher than where we would have picked them,

not happy with these niche moves - tryamkin - did we really need to take him in the third?

i think ppl over think the whole drafting thing way too much - they think they know something that the ISS doesn't

Mckeown and glover would have made this draft a home run on top of demko, mccann, virtanen instead we dip into obscurity - which is what we have done classically

He was the second best russian dman at the WJC behind Zadorov. He's not an obscure dman. We didn't have a 4th round pick.

Plus, as a 19 yr old playing pretty much full time in KHL bigger ice rink says something. I'm interested to see this kid in the AHL.

Already a pro under contract with massive size.

This is no kid hopeful but a proven professional.

Wondering who scouted him and recommended him?

the canuck's russian scout sergei...

which is hilarious that we have a russian scout because we havent used him for 7 years but we make him scout for us all year round

Could be a great pick.

A few months back, I was reading posts by people who've followed him pretty closely. They were talking seriously about taking him as early as the late-1st or early-2nd.

If we've scouted this one correctly, we have a real player here.

Overager though

Interesting,that aspect,eh?

Benning is the scouting GM so maybe he is testing his Russian counterpart's abilities?

Perhaps he knows the Canucks Russian scout already and has some faith in his talents?

No matter,I find it interesting and exciting to have tried out a big,Russian defender.
