Hey guys. Need some help just trying to see the big difference between the two. I was in the Etem to vancouver camp too and can honestly say i dont know much about this Vey guy that came in. Its obvious that Etem is alot bigger but Vey seems to have the better production? How come we arent as excited for vey as we are for etem since they are the same age. Help?

I am a hundred percent sure Vey is taller than 5-11 but they are fairly similar as they can both play the wing an centre. Etem played with Shinkaruk while Bey centred Toffolli and Pearson in Manchester. Vey is a superior playmaker while Etem is a sniper. And one was a 1st round pick while the other was a 4th rounder.

Whats the point of this?

The point is i just want to know why everyone is gushing over Etem while this Vey guys is getting overlooked when they have roughly same numbers or Veys being even better. Also just need some help as i dont get to watch too much AHL or junior action

Vey has a better offensive game, while Etem has a better 2 way game IMO.

And I'm pretty sure Vey is 6'1, 185lb.

If this is true, shouldnt we be happy that we got the more offensive version since were stacked with 2 way prospects?

It's probably because we GOT Vey...if we got Etem in the deal, lots of folks around these parts would say why didn't we try get Vey?

There's a lot to like about Emerson Etem, but Linden Vey was the top point scorer in the WHL in his final year (he was 19 in his final year in the WHL), and has done nothing but continue to develop his two way game while putting up impressive offensive numbers in the AHL for the past three seasons...the kid is 22, can play center or right wing...is willing to work his way up the line up...there's a lot to like about Vey.

At this stage of both players' development, who is to say which of the two projects to be better NHLers? Etem is bigger so maybe he gets the edge...but I'm pretty excited about having Vey in our lineup. Though he seems more of a playmaker than a scorer, I wouldn't be surprised if he steps up and plays with the Sedins sometime during the season.

I really hope we don't put ANOTHER playmaker with the sedins this year. Too much passing not enough shooting with our top line.

The first thing we'll notice about Vey is how small he is. Then we'll notice how slow he is. If we're lucky we may notice now and then that he has some skill too.

Should have kept the 50th pick.

But he's Canadian!

LA will regret letting go of Vey

Not if McKeown proves to be as good advertised. Have to give to get sometimes and hopefully it works out for both teams.

Vey played well in his few games with the big club and I think the Canucks added a good young player to their team, but the Kings have no room on their roster for Vey and I think the Kings did well to add another pick and turn it into a potentially really good D-man.

The Kings drafted 10 players last week and their core guys are still young. They have several prospects to work with. Losing Vey doesn't really impact the Kings at all even if he works out well in Vancouver.

Etem is a lot better in every regard? /thread?

It's like you've watched both play their entire lives and have come to conclusion. Stop with it lol. You have no clue, it's just your opinion which you're stating off of with no basis to support. Absurd conclusion to come to if you ask me.

Etem has proved more at the NHL level, Vey had a better AHL season this year while playing his first season in the NHL. Etem is 13 months younger though so that plays in aswell.

I would say Etem has the higher upside but Vey is coming in and going to break out in the next couple of seasons while Etem has not found a permanent spot on the roster yet. Vey will find one this season though.
