[Proposal] Several ideas for the Sedin's Winger

Recommended Posts

I don't like the idea of thrusting Kassian or Jensen onto the 1st line and expecting them to score 20+ goals with the Sedins, so here are a few very likely ideas on a winger for the twins:

1) Sign Alfredsson, 1 or 2 years, 4M. We've got money, he's Swedish, he's coming off a 20-goal pace season and has chemistry with the twins already. A perfect fit and quick fix.

2) Sign Setoguchi. 3 years (he's 27), 4M per. Has scored 30 goals not long ago and scored at a 20-goal pace every single season except for when he was with the lowly Jets. Big body and a right handed shot which is what the Sedins have thrived with and need. Basically a more advanced, NHL-proven Kassian who we could use until Jensen, Kassian and Virtanen are ready to steal top-3 minutes.

3) Sign Kulemin. 2 years, 3.5M per. Big body and a left handed shot but still young and is used to a Canadian market. He's scored 30 goals too and if he's hit his potential and was a one hit wonder, could play on our 3rd line or the press box. We've got plenty of cap space to throw around so might as well, as a back-up plan in case our young forwards don't score.

4) TRADE: Markstrom, Hansen, Gaunce, 2nd round pick for Evander Kane. If they want a 1st rounder, give them the 2015-2016 one, otherwise throw them Shinkaruk instead of Gaunce but I'd rather hold onto the only skilled winger we have.

Sedin - Sedin - Alfredsson/Setoguchi/Kulemin/Kane

Kassian - Bonino - Higgins

Jensen - Matthias - Burrows

Horvat - Richardson - Vey

Dorsett

i was kinda hoping Iginla today but that dream got smashed. Kane would be insane, the only drawback of a kane trade would be that we'd be giving away some prospects that are going to be sick in the mid-to-near future, and he's got an attitude problem that could cause some drama in the locker room or in the community.

Ya him spending time to speak with young hockey players would be horrible for the community...

Alfie is only resigning w/ the Wings. Has already stated that

Too inconsistent

Seems like more of a bottom 6 guy to me. And if the Leafs aren't resigning him, that should say something about him

Not sure they take it. Guance and Hansen = 3rd liners, 2nd is just a sweetener and Markstrom has plenty of question marks, and it's going to be hard to move him since he's uproven and teams know we have to move a goalie so we don't lose them thru waivers.

TANK.

like others have mentioned : Alfie is either a Wing or retired.

Botch also mentioned the Canucks brass has zero interest in Evander Kane.

Setoguchi is a nice idea, Kulemin would've been helpful too if we had a right handed centermen. We need to find a right handed winger to play with the Sedins in case Burrows gets cold with them. Kassian, is yes, aright handed dmen. but the time isn't near for him to start playing there with the brothers

Vrbata is still my top preference

To Winnipeg

Lack, Hansen, Jensen/Gaunce, conditional 1st/2nd round pick

To Van

Kane

Winnipeg has the worst starter in the NHL who is too expensive to demote as a backup and is pretty much unmovable via trade. Lack is a young, inexpensive 1B goalie who can split the net with Pavelec and would either 1) Get them into the playoffs 2) Be traded a the deadline for solid return 3) Re-sign at good rate.

Hansen lives in Winnipeg, so he might consider waiving his NTC. A youngish winger who could re-find his game in a 2nd/3rd line role.

Prospect to sweeten the pot, and a conditional pick (2nd round if we miss the playoffs - protects us from potentially giving them a high pick).

Actually i agree with him doing a good job with speaking to youth hockey players, but he has at times caused drama in the Winnipeg locker room a few times. For example:

http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/04/08/evander-the-evader

and also here in van, there was an alleged assault case between him and a man that he punched 3 times...his fault or not its still drama thats occurring in the community.

Not trying to rip him as a person, i wouldn't mind him on our team, just don't want him to cause drama that may take a toll on the team.

I know the guy who Kane allegedly assaulted. His name is Lev. The whole thing is blown out of whack and Kane was not the one who started it from what I hear from my circle of old coworkers that was there.

Yeah its unclear as to who started it or what actually happened unless there was someone there who witnessed it all

Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson

Vrbata - Bonino - Kassian (or Burrows)

Burrows - Matthias - Jensen

Lain - Richardson - Dorsett

Edler - Myers

Hamhuis - Beiksa

Sbisa - Stanton

This would be ideal for me and we'd be about over a 1 mil in cap space. We'd need to trade Tanev, Hansen and Higgins. I'd prefer Burrows on the third line since he's looking like our main PK.

Also too bad that we're losing Santorelli, he was such a utility guy, fit decently anywhere in the lineup and would have really preferred him on the forth line instead of Lain or whoever to add some skill and hustle. But with Dorsett looks like our fourth line is going to be about grit and roughness.
