I sort of feel a connection to their fans since they came into the league with the same expansion draft and, as such have been suffering the exact same number of years. I think they'll finish last, but they could always fall to 2nd (operating under the assumption that no draft lottery rules are changing). I really don't want Connor McDavid to land in Calgary. Calgary might lose, but they most definitely won't get "beat up". They have an internal cap limit, their team for the next couple of years isn't that strong, they have a deep prospect pool, but only a couple of players with top end skill/potential, (Lazar, Ceci, Puempel). They have the lowest average ticket prices out of all the Canadian teams, $137.82, good for 15th in the league, for comparison, the other six Canadian teams are ranked in the top seven for average ticket prices. Ottawa could really use a McDavid, badly. I am in no way suggesting that Ottawa is a worse franchise than Phoenix...I mean Arizona...or Flordia etc; just that McDavid would help the team a lot, and they could use it...so could Edmonton, but fk them!! they've already squandered 3 1st overall picks, and countless top picks! Ideally it would be Ottawa getting him, they really need something to get that franchise moving again. Calgary, Phoenix, and Edmonton also have legit shots. Neko Posted July 3, 2014 Author Share Posted July 3, 2014 I have to agree with the other post, Bettman probably won't let him go to a west team since the west is fairly stacked right now and the east has only a couple competitive teams (Boston and Pitt), I also don't see him letting him go to a Canadian team and the last superstar player that played in Canada was Gretzky because he came with the existing Oilers when they were added into the NHL.
