The New York Post reported Friday that Gretzky has joined a group of investors trying to bring an NHL team to Seattle. The Post states that Gretzky's group is one of three trying to get a team to the Pacific Northwest, though it's not known if the method would be to buy an existing franchise or set up an expansion team. An NHL spokesperson confirmed the meeting then and said the commissioner was there getting an update on the status of a new arena being proposed by investor Chris Hansen. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=456459 Im following this closely as id love it is there an nhl team in seattle think of the rivalry! McBackup
I'm not sold on Seattle as a hockey market. So relocation? Maybe. Expansion? Absolutely not.

Rounoush
Can anyone refresh my memory on who exactly expansion teams can take from your roster? How many untouchables can you have? What about prospects?
TheRussianRocket.
Would be nice but the rumour is false that Gretzky is part of it http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/05/report-gretzkys-agent-says-his-client-not-involved-in-seattle-nhl-group/

Tangelos
Doesn't an expansion mean that we'd have to give that team a few of our players? No thanks.
Coconuts
If it's a relocation, fine by me. Get the Panthers out of Florida, or wait til the Coyotes out clause kicks in. They'll lose enough money.
JD1010
This would be great I could drive to Seattle to watch games 10x cheaper! So you would spend $100-$150 on gas, maybe $50 on food 5-6 hours driving plus long border lineups, and $150-$200 on a hotel if you stay the night. All to save what $100 on ticket cost compare to Canucks Tickets?

I don't know what car you have but it takes 2 hours to go to Seattle with a Toyota Corolla

All to save what $100 on ticket cost compare to Canucks Tickets? I'm not that far off with travel and costs living in Victoria. A Canucks game always means ferry and hotel etc. Clipper is cheaper for myself as they offer industry rates so I would be Seattle bound more often for sure. All to save what $100 on ticket cost compare to Canucks Tickets? Gas would only cost probably $30-40 for a round-trip to Seattle unless you drive an absolute gas guzzler. Hotels can be found easily for ~$69-109. Food is a lot cheaper in the US... You could probably have a decent dinner for two for less than $25. Oh, and those who have Nexus can essentially skip border line-ups. Not saying it'd be worth it, but you're over-inflating the numbers quite a bit there. All to save what $100 on ticket cost compare to Canucks Tickets? More like $30 for gas, $25 for food, a 2.5 hour drive and $100 for a hotel. If you and a couple buds went, you would certainly save money.
