(Proposal) Roster

Recommended Posts

Sedin. Sedin. Vrbata
Jensen. Bonino. Kassian
Mathias. Richardson Vey
Dorset. Lain. Kenins
Sestito

Hamhuis. Bieksa
Tanev. Sbisa
Stanton. Weber
(Corrado for call ups)

Miller
Lack

That leaves us for trades: Markstrom (he would have to clear waivers and we cannot risk letting a young goalie go for nothing), Burrows, Hansen, Higgins, Edler

To Calgary: Jacob Markstrom
To Van: Max Reinhart

To Montreal: Alex Burrows, 2016 1ST ROUND PICK
To Van: 2015 1st round pick

To Winnipeg: Jannik Hansen
To Van: 2015 3rd round pick

To Ny Islanders: Chris Higgins
To Van: 2015 3rd round pick, 2015 3rd round pick (they have two)

To Detroit: Alex Edler
To Van: Tomas Jurco, Brendan Smith

After all those trades would free up about 15.8 mill in cap (we can sign two legit top six forwards for a year or two and give our UFAs and/or RFAs a raise or keep the cap flexibility)

We would be getting:
Max Reinhart
Montreal 2015 1st round pick
Van 2015 3rd round pick
Winnipeg 2015 3rd round pick
Ny islanders 2015 3rd round pick
Ny islanders 2015 3rd round pick
Tomas Jurco
Brendan Smith

Then at the 2015 NHL draft: flip our 4 2015 3rd round picks to any team in between the 20th overall-30th overall (realistically it would be 25th overall plus)

We would end up with:
Van 2015 1st round pick (likely 5th overall)
2015 1st round pick (likely 25th overall)
Montreal 2015 1st round pick (likely 26th overall)
Max Reinhart
Tomas Jurco
Brendan Smith

Would catch us up in the rebuild process and restock our prospect cupboards.

New NHL lineup:
Sedin. Sedin. Vrbata
Jensen. Bonino. Kassian
Jurco. Richardson Vey
Dorset. Mathias. Sestito

Hamhuis. Bieksa
Tanev. Smith
Stanton. Sbisa
Weber

Miller
Lack

Eventual AHL team:

Shinkaruk. Horvat. Virtanen
Gaunce. MCCan. 2015 5th overall pick (could be future 1st line centre and just move Horvat to wing)
Grenier. Cassels Fox
Mallet. Lain. Kenins

2015 25th overall pick. 2015 26th overall pick
Subban. Cederholm
Tharymkin. Corrado
Sauve

Demko
Erikson

Sooo
5th overall- Mathew Barzal
25th overall- Parker Wotherspoon
26th overall- Ryan Pilon

Shinkaruk. Barzal. Horvat
Gaunce. McCan. Virtanen
Grenier. Cassels. Fox
Mallet. Lain. Kenins

Wotherspoon. Pilon
Subban. Cederholm
Tharymkin. Corrado
Sauve

Demko
Erikson

When all vets are gone 2020?

Shinkaruk. Barzal. Horvat
Jensen McCan. Virtanen
Kassian. Gaunce. Jurco
Vey. Cassels. Fox
Archibald. Lain

Tanev. Smith
Stanton. Sbisa
Corrado Wotherspoon
Cederholm

(Still have Sauve, subban, Pilon, Tharymkin and can trade to improve defense)

Demko
Lack

ARGUE AWAY!!!!!!! Lol

Lol Not really rebuild, we would be leaving all our prospects in the minors to develop until all our vets either leave after their contracts are up, after they retire or after we let them walk because a prospect is ready. We would be trading big pieces of our team but making some room for younger players who seem ready like Vey and Jensen.

This would be a really slow and well prepared rebuild.

I do kinda like that roster. I don't think Kenins is ready for the NHL just yet though. And too much young blood. There needs to be a balance. Keep Higgins in there as a veteran presence with good skillset.

I like your idea of Lain on the 4th line (or Archibald). Both are great young 4th line guys that I've been endorsing for a while but there may not be room for them. Definitely going to be interesting to see how things shake out with so many forwards going into this year.

I do think Burrows and Hansen will be the odd men out unless they really step it up at camp. Trade them for whatever you can get (not necessary to get a player back due to our glut of forwards)...

In terms of Markstrom, tough to say what'll happen with him. Eventually one of our goalies will have to be traded. We've already got Eriksson and Cannata signed for Utica. Unless one of them really severely disappoints through training camp or gets injured, Markstrom will be traded.

Calgary has no real need for Markstrom.

The word is they are happy with their current G prospects (Orito, Gilles, Roy, & McDonald).

Add to that, Reinhart has a decent chance to be their 4C next season, I just don't see this trade happening.

Calgary doesn't need Markstrom

Montreal doesn't need Burrows (seriously, other than him being french why do people keep making proposals to send him to Montreal, look at their line-up, there is no room for him unless they send Borque back in return)

Higgins MIGHT be attractive to the Islanders, but why would you trade one of the few players who earnedf his salary last season.

Edler has already said he has no intention of waiving his NTC

To Calgary: Jacob Markstrom

To Van: Max Reinhart

To Montreal: Alex Burrows, 2016 1ST ROUND PICK

To Van: 2015 1st round pick

To Winnipeg: Jannik Hansen

To Van: 2015 3rd round pick

To Ny Islanders: Chris Higgins

To Van: 2015 3rd round pick, 2015 3rd round pick (they have two)

To Detroit: Alex Edler

To Van: Tomas Jurco, Brendan Smith

We would end up with:

Van 2015 1st round pick (likely 5th overall)

Calgary rejects.

Montreal accepts.

Winnipeg accepts.

NYI accepts if they want him.

Detroit may accept, but it's not happening.

The team won't be that bad to get the 5th overall pick.

Much better than your other ones.

Burrows for a 1st.

Yeah, that'll be the day...

Could tell you spent a lot of time on this but I don't think I want to trade markstrom to a rival and I don't think burrows can get us a 1st rounder in a talented draft class

He said Burrows and our 2016 -1st I believe........Why yes he did!.........This is just to get us through to Sept..........you should read the post more carefully............Not sure about the Calgary trade though.

To Calgary: Jacob Markstrom

To Van: Max Reinhart

Arguably Calgary's #1 prospect besides Johnny 'Hockey' Gaudreau.

There is no way Calgary trades there Leading scorer in there AHL farm team for a Goalie who is either going to be traded or put through wavers. The Canucks should be grateful if they can get a 7th round conditional pick for Markstrom.
