nitwitt
Some people have mentioned how under whelmed they feel with the Kesler deal. I believe he potentially hit a home run under terrible circumstances. Bonino is a fantastic hockey player, 22 goals,27 assists and playing 16 minutes a game. Sbisa is a beast who loves to take the body, something this club has missed for years, expect 200 hits from this guy, expect a D-man who plays with edge who will bring out the best in guys like Bieksa and Edler. The 1st round pick McCann is a Patrice Bergeron clone this kid in 2-3 years is going to be a top 6 guy, no doubt. Virtanen although 2 years away will be the power forward we have all been waiting for, not as physically dominant as Lucic but a very quick version of Clowe. With Kassian hopefully taking a step forward and the Sedins rebounding from last year. To be totally honest the Sedin's first third of last years seasons looked like they were going to eclipse their best years, but Tort's completely bagged them. New coach new philosophy could be super solid year with Vrbata(legit goal scorer who is RH) and the twins. Now as far as I can see the top 6 is missing one thing a legit 2nd line LW, and please don't say Burrows because Burr on the left side in his own zone is God awful, we've all seen him tryin to pass out of his own zone to the middle or across the zone, it's like he has issues with his left eye...I'm just saying. This is why I believe Benning is very quitely putting together a deal which will see E.Kane land with the nucks prior to trainning camp. The Deal would be something like: Higgins, Markstom and N.Jensen and probably a 2nd 2015 for E.Kane. This might be considered slight overpayment but you have to fill the top 6 with REAL top six to compete in this division. NEW LOOK LINES: SEDIN SEDIN VRBATA E.KANE BONINO BURROWS HORVAT VEY KASSIAN MATTHAIS RICHARDSON HANSEN This team doesn't need a complete rebuild it needs a rework, a real shift in team philosphy, SIZE, SPEED, SKILL and EDGE. ALA the "Pacific Coast Bruins".

He'll be a hero if he ever signs with the Canucks, no matter how much stupid stuff he could have made in the past, people will applause if he ever does it for the Canucks lol
bigbadcanucks
@ nitwitt...I'm in complete agreement that the team that JB is shaping out is going to eventually look a lot like the Bruins. The roster as you have listed is missing size and edge -- three guys that are over 200 lbs., and none, other than Kassian really play with a lot of edge. I like the acquistion of Dorsett, and he's more in line with what a Gregory Campbell brings to the lineup, except at the RW position instead of center, but I see that he's not on your roster. And even on defence...IMO, Bieksa is the only one who plays with an edge, though Sbisa is reputed to be a guy who likes to play a "heavy" game. I believe we need an upgrade on back-end toughness and meanness. With all due respect to the current top six, Hamhuis, Edler, Tanev, Stanton aren't going to have any of the heavy WC forwards thinking twice about entering the greasy areas in our zone. Give us another 5 years, and with potential emergence of guys like Tryamkin and a couple other giants, we'll be exactly what we want the back end to look like - fast, supersized, physical and mean. It looks to me that Benning is putting the speed and skill in place first and will start filling out the grit factor as we progress.

William_Clarkson
Lucic would never play for us after him getting punched out in our bars lol I read somewhere that he loves Benning and would consider coming back when he's a free agent. If he started playing here and he was on our side, he'd become popular quickly. By the way, I think Winnipeg would accept.
MadOgre
I listened to that interview with Evander Kane and he was not saying he wants out. He was addressing the fact that for 3 years there have been constant rumors of him being available from Winnipeg. I did not take from that conversation what the media are making out of it. Gotta love our ridiculous sports media ! That being said, I think that Evander would fit nicely into our line up as the OP states. Im not so sure about the off ice issues with him, if he's a guy Benning would target. Maybe he is. I haven't really heard anything that knocks the guys character or desire to win. SEDIN SEDIN VRBATA KANE BONNINO BURROWS HIGGINS VEY KASSIAN MATTHIAS RICHARDSON DORSETT extra forwards HANSEN SESTITO JENSEN ZELEWSKI HORVAT GAUNCE SHINKARUK FOX EDLER SBISA TANEV HAMHUIS STANTON BIEKSA extra d-men CORRADO SANGUINETTI CEDARHOLM MILLER LACK MARKSTROM Obviously some prospects are listed as extra players, and some would have to go in order to aquire Evander Kane via trade. Some prospects will go up and down through out the year for injury fill ins and to break them in slowly. I wouldn't mind an upgrade on defense, but not absolutely necessary. I don't know why the perception is that Ryan Miller is a washed out goalie. He wasn't washed out when Buffalo traded him last year. I really think after 25 games or so he will settle right in and we will all be surprised at how good of a goalie he still is. I think with a line up like that, not only would we make the playoffs but might even do some damage in the post season. With Willie D at the helm, it sure will be exciting to watch our Canucks again next year. .

MadOgre
I do not have any desire to see Lucic in a canucks uniform. We have better quality kids who are more talented and just as big coming up the ranks. Why do we need a cry baby loser in Lucic who gets beat up in his own home town ? The Lucic that I watched last year has no value.

People used to say the same things about Kariya, Sakic, Seabrook, etc. Stop getting your hopes up for players in the league simply because they were born in Vancouver. I'd rather thatteam draft and develop it's own talent.

Benning was part of the Boston management that shipped problem child Seguin out of town, and one of his first moves here was to send Anaheim the Canuck's problem. Why would he then turn around and take Winnipeg's upon himself? There are many many more top-6 wingers out that that would fit, and without the baggage that Benning and Linden have made it clear will have no place on this team. Imagine Kassian and Lucic on the same line. Bonino would obviously be the odd man out in the physical department, but still a very difficult line to play against. I would not at all be surprised if Lucic comes to Vancouver when his contract is done, and he'll still be in his 20's. The Kane situation in Winnipeg is likely a distraction, so I actually think it might get to the point they'll take whatever best offer is out there. I mean, look at what we were forced to get back in return for Luongo to end that fiasco.
