For everyone who can't make it down and want to know how our young players are looking....Here's a master pro CDC scouting report.

First sessions have been defence so I'll start there, no not a complete list:

Cedarholm - one of the better guys on the ice, don't think many people realize how big this guy is

Tryamkin - looked like the big boy he is on skates could be quicker but handled the puck and shot better than any of our other D, looked to be having fun, ragdolled and jerseyed Subban with one hand...at times seemed a bit bored flipping pucks around between drills etc

Subban - looked a lot like his brother just not quite at the same skill level, resemblance is uncanny, worked hard and looked to be taking the camp seriously but is seriously small, looked hilarious beside Tryamkin

Hutton - showed up expecting a lot from him as CDC = <3 Hutton <3 didn't stand out but didn't hide in the background either. Expected more from him but he didnt do anything wrong either

Liberati - didn't look out of place but hid in the background

Forsling - looked skinny, but handled the puck well

Demko - Don't think he got scored on the whole session, seemed to be a massive gap in ability between our forward and D prospects

The second group looked like they played in a different league the looked so much better, would have to see them all together to be fair though.

Shinkaruk - Looked VERY good out there, very motivated...was the first on the ice, the first one to go through drills and was last to get off. Looked like a completely different player compared to his few games with the Tigers here. Had a few filthy toe drags and shots that would bring you out of your seat. Ran a lot of drills with Horvat, very exciting. Easily the most impressive player at the camp

Horvat - Hard to see two way game during drills but looked to be struggling a little. NHL frame, NHL Intangibles, Footspeed is better than last year but still looks a year away skill wise. Dominated a bit more on the 2v2 at the end where he could use his body a bit more

Gaunce - Looked very mature, and like he'd been through this all twice before. Him and Horvat are very close, but think Gaunce is more NHL ready

Fox - Average to good speed. Slightly smaller than I expected, has a finishing touch, places shot really well. Shot power is over 9000, put a few shots past Lotz/Garteig from top of the circle that were rockets. One of the better players on the white team

McCann - Didnt seem to stand out as much as I thought, looks very much like a young Ryan Kesler but looked skinny beside Gaunce/Horvat. Showed a few flashes that get you excited

Valk - Deserves a 2-way contract on his skill game and speed. Might not get one at 5'9 and 165lbs especially from this management

Zalewski - did a few things that raised a few eyebrows, could be quicker

Anyone else there? Whats your take?

McKeneny looked very similar to Cedarholm which is a good thing. Same build and look at about the same place in their development. Didn't have a good look at Petit or Stewart. Virtanen was there too, got to talk to him for a while, kid handles himself with class and looked pretty involved even though he wasn't on the ice. I believe there is one more session tomorrow morning. If I go I'll watch those guys more closely.

Any word on Kyle Pettit , Evan McEneny and Mackenzie Stewart?

Pretty sure I read somewhere Pettit is invited to camp but didn't participate in any drills as he and Virtanen are the only Canucks prospect injured and nursing their injuries during the camp.

Thanks for the report and interesting to hear about Shinkaruk. This guy has so much desire that he might just push his way onto the roster this year, cardio issues or not.

He still has 2 months to do cardio. I think the issue was that he couldn't do major cardio until he was medically cleared. A lot can happen in 2 months!

Keep him in Vancouver for another month and have him do the Grouse Grind two or three times a week! ::D

Petit is out and has been all of the development camp (probably why I didnt notice him yesterday). Gaunce looked strong in the 4v4 today and had 3 goals I believe. Stewart and McEneny also really seemed to stand out to me today. More good stuff from Shinkaruk but wasnt as impressive as yesterday. Bo had a few nice plays including one where he almost split the D coming across the blueline. Hutton looked much better today in a game situation. I believe the entire 4v4 was filmed so hopefully CDC will post a video.

Would love to hear how others felt our prospects looked from anyone else there today.
